Game of Thrones copies the well the world and spirit of its source material, however the story and characters don’t achieve the same levels. [Dec 2015]

A season that began with much promise doesn’t quite deliver by the time the sixth and final episode’s credits roll. Some fine characters and a real sense of what makes the Game of Thrones universe tick mean this is worth checking out if you crave more stories from Westeros and beyond in the wait for more books and TV episodes.

The first season is one that is full of hard choices and a lot of sacrifice and feels very much in line with what fans have come to expect from Game of Thrones, but just how much all of this will matter has been hidden away for a second season.

If you're a fan of Game of Thrones, Telltale's version is a must buy. It fleshes out the universe in a great way, with a really exciting story and a great cast of characters – you know, the way Telltale usually rolls. The game is however not without its flaws, including crammed in book characters, boring storylines and a tempo that sometimes is a drag.

The story rarely establishes itself as anything more than big budget fan fiction.

I won’t give another Telltale game two pages in our magazine again, until they’ve cleaned up their shit and made some actual technical improvements. The world keeps turning, please try to keep up. [feb. 2016 / page 061]

Even if you’re a fan of the books or HBO show, there’s not much incentive to play Telltale’s Game of Thrones.

This game, had impressive, detail, to the book and show, and the story was immense, yes, the North Grove was actually explained!! To all you dim wits out there! Great game, get it, sit down, and enjoy the lavish world of GOT, telltale does tell a great story!! Expand

Telltale Games are doing a really good job with creating these games, and this is on of their best.

I was really drawn into this game and wanted to play the next episode right after I finished an episode.
What happens in this game does surprise you and leaves you with your mouth wide open, but thats typical Game of thrones and that's why I love it, it always seems to surprise even if you know that **** is going to happen sooner or later.

Fun game, really great story, catches the Game of Thrones universe pretty well.

Would not recommend unless you have watched the show or read the books. There is a good chance you will be confused on a lot of the references and events that happen.

The game quality/style was very sloppy. Did not like the "artistic direction" they took with this one. Just looked blurry and fuzzy the whole time.

Telltale is very competent in telling tales. The "Walking Dead" (both seasons) and "The Wolf Among Us" are incredible examples. So I wasTelltale is very competent in telling tales. The "Walking Dead" (both seasons) and "The Wolf Among Us" are incredible examples. So I was expecting some of this quality in the first season of "Game of Thrones". I am a HUGE GoT fan (books and show) and believed it would be virtually impossible for Telltale to tell a bad tale here.

Maybe my expectations were too high; but the reality is that, after 6 episodes, the result is kind of 'meh'. I was never too compelled by the characters or the House Forrester as a whole (although there are some great moments when it comes to character development). The cameos were nice; but the plot felt weak, unimportant, almost irrelevant. The story never moved me - like the show brilliantly does - or even Telltale has done with past games. At one point, I just wanted to see it end.

It's not a bad game. It's just not the best Game of Thrones game Telltale could do. Hopefully the second season will be more interesting. I'm not counting on it, though.
