  • Summary: MLB 14 The Show is a realistic baseball game that allows players to feel the MLB experience with moments such as when you're called up to the majors, a sacrifice fly to left field, or crushing a walk-off homer to win it all.

MLB 14: The Show is a fantastic first offering on a new platform. I am impressed that every single feature is included, and the visuals are truly stunning.

MLB 14: The Show on PlayStation 4 is certainly the version you’ll want if you’re a hardcore baseball fan. It’s achingly pretty (with only a few minor drawbacks), it sounds great, and the gameplay is top-notch.

Player detail is also taken to the next level, with renders that make the players easily recognizable not only by looking at their face, but by looking at their animations as well.

Overall, even with its faults, it's hard not to still absolutely love MLB 14 the Show, especially on the PS4.

While there are certainly some issues holding MLB 14: The Show back from being a classic in the sport game genre, there’s far more good than bad. The attention to detail, the plethora of content and the rock-solid gameplay make up for any problems.

Sony’s MLB franchise has unquestionably made a successful leap to PlayStation 4. The franchise has never looked better and the game has made yet another jump into the realm of ‘true to life’. MLB: The Show retains its crown as the undisputed king of baseball games. This being said, it remains by in the large the same game we have played over the course of the past few years and the glitches do seem more prevalent.

The Show was clearly on its last legs on the PS3, and the revamped, more true-to-life ballparks infuse some much-needed atmosphere in the series’ PS4 debut. Meanwhile, Road to the Show includes several tweaks that help you create a more dominating prospect. Unfortunately, the player models don’t receive the same level of care, and the game’s online components aren’t on the level of most other sports franchises—issues that absolutely must be addressed going forward.

This is my first MLB experience, but I do have to say that the game seems like a lot of fun. The graphics are nice and the game-play is great. For me it seems like you really get in touch with baseball :) Expand

Why would anyone rate this below a 4? XBOX fanbois that don't get a baseball game that's who. The game is great, looks great and plays great. Nothing more I can ask for this year, thanks for giving us a baseball game. Expand

MLB 14: The Show is a next-gen leap that I have never seen before. While many sports games, like Madden, NBA 2k, and Fifa all need a year or two to get back to the status their game once held on previous gen consoles, The Show didn't need a recovery period. Each sports game has its issues. Madden and FIfa didn't improve their games' graphics enough, NBA 2k minimized some of the game modes in order to get those beautiful visuals, and NBA Live, well, just sucked. MLB 14: the Show does not cut corners either visually or in content. The Show has always been the best looking sports game franchise, and this year is no different. The Show improves on already stunning visuals on the PS3 version and the graphics can be so lifelike, if you look about 10 ft. away from the TV, nine times out of ten, you would think you're watching a live MLB broadcast. Not only are the visuals improved greatly, but the gameplay seems a lot more refined than before. MLB 14 has ALL the game modes of the previous games and, surprisingly enough, the online seems quite improved in comparison to previous games. The only complaint I have about the game is the painfully long loading times, but for a game like this, it's worth waiting the extra 30 seconds. Overall, MLB 14: the Show for PS4 could possibly be the best baseball game of all-time. I have never been more impressed in my life with a game like this. Expand

Amazing game, the only reason I didn't rate it higher was because it is the first next gen title for the series it had a "port like" feel. I've been playing the series since '09 and this is easily the best one yet. Graphics are beautiful and the game play is on point...with a few minor animation glitches. Definitely a must buy for PS4 owners who enjoy simulation style sports gaming. Expand

I don't quite understand why everyone is raving about the graphics in this game. Perhaps it's because the last mlb the show game I owned was 09, but I expected far better visuals in this game. I wouldn't say they are bad, I would just say they are unimpressive. It is a marginal step up from 09. Gameplay is fun, but background textures seem rushed, and without much thought or effort. Players still have the same dead eyes, awkward movements, rigid expressions and hair, and lifeless presentation. I may be wrong, but it seems clear to me that this game was made for ps3 and simply ported to ps4. With the ridiculous load times on ps4, and the marginal upgrades from ps3 version, I would say buy the ps3 version this time around, and wait until they actually make a game specifically for ps4 if you really want to be impressed. Hopefully they actually make use of the power and graphic capabilities of the ps4 next time around. Expand

Unacceptable installation process. I'm talking days, not hours. I play one mode, RTTS. RTTS is broken which makes the game unplayable. You spend a season or two upgrading your player and once you hit the majors, it is impossible to keep up with maintaining the points. You sit on the bench and earn nothing while your player degrades and erases all your hard work. Gamebreaker. If you only play RTTS, don't buy this game. An update could fix this obvious problem, but I'm not holding my breath. Probably a pathetic attempt to get our money buying stubs and in the process, they ruined the game mode. Idiots. Staying away from future versions of this crap. Expand
