  • Summary: Embark on an exciting new adventure with the Skylanders and the SWAP Force. For generations, the SWAP Force protected the volcano that replenishes Skylands magic. That is until an epic battle caught them in an eruption that blasted them apart, sent them to Earth and gave them the ability to swap powers. Only you can mix and match their tops and bottoms, put them on the new Portal of Power and save Skylands. Expand

The swappable characters add a nice new mechanic and jumping is finally in. The PlayStation 4 version looks solid with better textures and resolution. It's fun for the whole family, but can be an expensive investment if your kid wants to unlock every level in the game.

A surprising step forward for a series we didn't expect to evolve, Skylanders: Swap Force adds a few new twists the liven things up. Yes, it's all in service of selling toys but that doesn't detract from a decent game.

Skylanders: Swap Force is the best kid-friendly game available on the PS4.

A great and humorous story, colourful environments, deep campaign and swappable characters make this a great game you shouldn't miss.
  5. Looks marginally better than the PS3 version. That's about it. [February 2014, p83]

    We expect a little bit more from a next-gen game. [Issue#238, p.72]

Sadly, the slow pacing, repetitive combat, and awkward jump mechanics let the gameplay down in places, and prevent it from reaching its full potential.

Surprisingly fun game. First skylanders game I've tried. the beautiful graphics and assortment of environments in the game really show off the PS4's power. With a bunch of other game modes to try, Post game will keep you sucked in. Only have a few gripes, like having to listen to an npc everytime i want to learn new skills. Story is kind of cheesy and generic but I'll cut it some slack being targeted towards kids and all but still. Expand
