Star Wars Battlefront might not be terribly considerate of solo players and its by-design accessibility might deter DICE’s hardcore Battlefield fans, but there’s no denying the multiplayer is a hell of a lot of fun, and as far as creating the feeling of being part of a Star Wars movie, it doesn’t get any better than this.

A brilliant Star Wars experience, but with limited life-span and little depth. [Christmas 2015, p.76]

As Star Wars fever builds ahead of The Force Awakens, Battlefront's brand of accessible multiplayer mayhem is definitely going to make a lot of people happy this Christmas. Sure, it could do with a campaign and sometimes it's a bit too shallow for its own good, but Battlefront is also one of the most authentic Star Wars experiences you can have outside of kissing your sister - "for luck" - and scrapping with your dad.

Star Wars: Battlefront has great potential, but its lack of content certainly lowers the experience. Fans might forgive this but we know that at least for now the game is still just a demo.

Star Wars Battlefront is a good Star Wars game, but an average multiplayer shooter. If you have any love for a galaxy far, far away, you'll get a real kick out of the taking part in its fun, large scale battles, and your reverence for the source material may even be enough to keep you coming back despite its shortcomings. If, on the other hand, you're after the next big shooter to keep you occupied longer term, the limited weaponry and simplified customisation mean that this isn't the game that you're looking for.

Right now, it’s bigger than life, feels good while you're enjoying it, but is somewhat disappointingly hollow.

With five tutorial missions, nine multiplayer game types and two single player modes, spread across 12 maps, Battlefront feels massive yet most of its modes wind up feeling like chores.

There is no storyPlaying the game for a couple of days now, and I'm a fan. It is "battlefront", so prepare yourself for a lot of fighting. There is no story mode, but it does not need any!! Single player is short, but multiplayer is awesome. A lot of different game types on a lot of different types of maps. Some are really small (close combat), some are large and open.

Be prepared for some fast-paced action. There is no such thing as "think before you shoot". You have to go for every shot and every opportunity. Really fun!

Also: as a beginner the game is hard because the "pro's" have a) more experience and b) better weapons / cards. But this challenges me to become even better!

I really like the game. Must buy.

When you see the Endor, you'll be amazed how gorgeous it looks! I'd have been more happy if there was more content but it's good that there is coming much more to play. This really isn't 10 game with this content, but if they would have done more planets, heroes etc. then I would easily give this 9+! I,m still pretty sure that this game won't be out of a sight for a long time! Expand

It's a simple shooter that quickly gets old. If you loved the old Battlefront games, you will be severely disappointed. It'll all con, and no pro, except that it's Star Wars. EA clearly knew this when developing a game shallow on content then charging $60, while also charging $50 for DLC that should've been the rest of the game. f it hasn't already dropped to $20 or lower, then I'd wait to buy it. The game clearly lacks any incentive to play after the first week of buying it! The worst part about this game is that their are only a handful of gigantic maps where your presence virtually does not matter. The skill cap seems extremely low; the game actually seems designed to make you die. Obtaining a vehicle can be extremely difficult and they are usually not even worth the effort; obtaining the Jedi position is even harder and due to its rarity is kind of pointless. The lack of a local multiplayer means your forced to die continuously fighting strangers, unlocking guns that all seem to be the same gun with different stats, other than, of course, the gun that you are forced to pay extra money for (meaning if your willing to spend an extra $10 you unlock by far the best gun taking all incentive out of the game). The game is designed for low-skilled level players who enjoy mindless first person shooters. The only good thing about this game is the fact that the graphics are outstanding and the fact that its in the star wars universe. Overall, wouldn't recommend this game to anyone above the ages of 10. Expand

The only and I mean ONLY thing that is keeping this game slightly above water is the fact that is it Star Wars. If you took everything aboutThe only and I mean ONLY thing that is keeping this game slightly above water is the fact that is it Star Wars. If you took everything about this game and put an unknown skin on it ... it would tank hard. EA has done it again. They have released an unfinished game during the Star Wars hype in order to get all the quick sales. Once the nostalgia wears off then the game's cracks really start to show. The servers are already starting to empty out while the in game experience leaves so much to be desired. I would have paid $40 for this game but instead fell into the trap and dropped the full $60. Then not but a week after Gamestop starts selling it at a $20 discount. Then the Origin server follows suit.

Do yourself a favor and spend your money on something else. Even going and burning the money would give you more satisfaction and enjoyment. At least then you would have warmth ... instead of the cold pit of sadness that this game left in my soul.

The ONLY pro is some good visuals, but I expect that from most big company AAA releases these days. This game lacks in content and ignores its roots.

The old games were built on classes. This created synergy in teams and roles. It also meant an even field with no pay to win. There is pay to win in SWBF reboot. One gun has pretty much to stats in everything, so it is the gun you need to be competitive, and if you want to unlock everything you must get paid DLCs. This is unacceptable for a full price game. There is less content than most F2P games aswell.

There are no space battles, half of the fun of bf2, but there is lame sky battles that consist of escorting a ship to safety. The controls are dumbed down and it is no where near as fun as trying to destroy the enemies mothership in bf2. No strategy, just chaos.

Vehicles are few in the ground games. They are also not varied and usually consist of perhaps an X wing, which you get from getting power ups on the map. The old games had many vehicles of all shapes and sizes like AT-AT's, Roller droids and a range of ships. Only two main ships appear for each class in the flying gamemode, and many vehicles are no longer controllable, like AT-AT's. Half of the old games was being in vehicles- do you just hate dun, EA?

Also, maps are bland, basically open spaces and battles are clusterf*cks, not coherent at all. No where near as well made as the old games and I don't like the look of them as much. They have better graphics, yes, but they are just bland and variants of grey and brown.

There is no meaningful single player campaign, just a God-awful survival mode. The old games had a fun single player where you played as a soldier rather than the hero and progressed through maps telling the whole star wars story from the front lines, from the prequels to the originals. Also, Galactic Conquest is gone, and instant action.

Galactic conquest was very fun but the loss of instant action is awful. It allowed friends to team up or oppose each other, and play against relatively good AI in objective games, not a rubbish survival with crap AI. The game is barebones with, and even without DLC.

The lack of prequel inspired content and very few things from the original movies, there is a lack of things to do and it doesn't feel that Star Wars-y.

I didn't expect much, EA, but this was the worst game of 2015 and craps on the brand.
Final score 0/10- hate this terrible game.
