An interesting Japanese psychological horror adventure that will leave you petrified.
The best of the supernatural survival games introduce new mechanics and enemies throughout the play time, yet Yuoni doesn’t, and it suffers for it. If you fancy a bit of a scare, you could do worse than play Yuoni, but there are better games out there as well.
Yuoni is a horror title that relies heavily on traditional jump scares. Furthermore, the world is too dark and the action lacks finesse. In theory, it should have been great, in reality, it sadly falls short.
With the raft of great horror titles out there already, there’s very little to recommend checking out Yuoni over most of them. The slow paced hide and seek gameplay lacks tension, risk, or any real consequence, and while the visuals can prove quite creepy at times, for the most part this is all too forgettable.
Unfortunately, Yuoni completely misses the mark by not being scary, not entertaining and being boring due to overly simplistic mechanics. Definitely not recommended.

Summary Yuoni is a first-person narrative horror game that whisks you away to a sunset-stained world to play a deadly game of hide and seek. As grade-schooler Ai, navigate authentic Japanese environments and utilise every hiding space you can find to survive the horrors ahead. And if they find you… run.
