A long and fun game, albeit one with a lack of properly executed back touch features and filled with graphical mediocrity. Skipping this will not make your heart skip a beat – we promise.

The Vita copy of Dungeon Hunter: Alliance is in a rather unique and unsavory position. You see, the exact same game can be purchased on the PlayStation Network for less than a third of the $39.99 Vita cartridge cost, and cheaper still on the iOS app store.

Solid, playable and enjoyable - but its world is just a bit too hackneyed to care about. [Apr 2012, p.107]
  4. Trite, boring and not at all compelling. Don't even bother waiting for it to hit the bargain bin, just leave it to rot. [April 2012, p77]

  1. Ok, first and foremost, after reading alot of uninformed critic reviews, I would like to point out THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS THE iPHONE GAME!!!!! This is infact a port of the game that was released on PSN in mid 2011 for PS3. I love both Dungeon Hunters 1 and 2 (3 was garbage) on iphone but they are vastly inferior to this version. Secondly, this is a Diablo clone, and a brilliant one at that, therefore due to its heritage it is not going to be fancy graphics, it is all about dungeons and looting!! I still play Diablo regularly to this day on my Xperia Play, as well as owning the original on ps1 and PC, and I can say that IGN's statement that DH is not as 'polished' is utter garbage. Diablo was not even polished in its day, as I said, all about the dungeons and looting!! Dungeon Hunter does what it sets out to do superbly and plays great, with variation, depending what character you decide to play as. Secondly, to those who criticise the price, I got the game from Asda (Walmart) for £23. That is a physical copy with box/instructions and card. I can not comment on price in the US but here in the UK that is a bargain as full price games are £40. It is an essential purchase at launch for those who love the loot heavy type rpg. A great game which will consume alot of time and battery power!! Expand
  2. The critic reviews have been a little harsh on the game, simply put its a hack and slash game similar to Diablo. The graphics aren't outright stunning, but they do a good job of showcasing the Vita's graphical prowess, that with the addition of a deep and compelling levelling up system and a surprisingly good story makes this game easy to recommend to those looking for a RPG for their Vita. There are slow downs when the screen is flooded with enemies however these happen rarely and only last a second. Some may find the game repetitive, however the ability to save wherever and whenever allows you to enjoy the game in short bursts. The inclusion of many side quests and drop in, drop out multiplayer adds replay value and makes this a compelling purchase. Collapse
  3. Despite the lack of character customisation, this title is fairly good for a simple and quite basic dungeon crawler.A standard, and therefore forgettable, fantasy story aside,DH:A is almost a trip down memory lane except on a handheld. But it's a far cry from todays Diablos and Torchlights. 4. Visually it's acceptable for a PSP release, but I don't think it's good enough to be a Vita game. Nothing stood out, which I think for the RPG genre it really needs to be something special. On a personal note, I found it very disappointing that it's a port of the same game...but it's more expensive for the Vita. Expand
