TxK is LSD in binary form. TxK is an excellent tunnel shooter and evolution of the Tempest-theme. [Feb 2014]
  3. Feb 27, 2014
After almost twenty years of work, Jeff Minter is finally able to complete his vision with this great shmup.
  4. Feb 25, 2014
TXK is a lesson for the future while a phenomenal return to the past. It is a game from another era to a new generation.

There might be some sensory overload at the start, but once you settle in, everything comes naturally. It is the ideal old-school arcade shmup that should appeal to nostalgic and contemporary gamers alike.
  6. Feb 24, 2014
Whilst it might take a while to click, once it does, nothing can stop TxK taking over your life.
  7. Feb 21, 2014
Apparently chaotic and impossible to control, TxK is in fact a perfectly designed game, immersed in a psychedelic tempest. A great old school shooter, with tight controls and superb level design.

There are many reasons to treat yourself and your Vita with TxK. The gameplay’s sharp, the soundtrack’s fantastic, and it’s one of those games were you’ll keep feeling like you can improve your high score with just one more go.
  9. The pounding beats and explosions of colour that used to punch you square in the brain fade into the background as time slows and TxK arrests every second of your attention the way few games ever can.
  10. Feb 17, 2014
TxK is the best arcade game available for PlayStation Vita. The latest fatigue from Jeff Minter is packed with an incredible gameplay, brilliant special effects and a stunning soundtrack, elements that made the Llamasoft game a true killer application for the Sony’s handheld.
  11. Feb 13, 2014
TxK is a phenomenal shooter with eye-popping graphics and a soundtrack that'll have you reaching for your glowsticks. A perfect example of how to remake a classic arcade game - and a PS Vita essential.
  12. Feb 13, 2014
The polished frankness is one thing, but a neat system that allows you to gradually best your score level by level breaks down the action into sizzling, digestible chunks makes the perfect concession to portable play and less time-rich players.
  13. Feb 12, 2014
The definitive version of Tempest and as such one of the best arcade games ever made, even if it’s only a minor improvement on previous versions.
  14. Feb 12, 2014
The entire package is put together with humour, warmth and class – it straddles the geeky retro chic that is so popular with indies right now, but also manages to drag an elderly game firmly into the present day with trophies, leaderboards, and intuitive choice of hardware. Immediately you know you are playing a Llamasoft title.
  15. Feb 12, 2014
One of the best score attack games on any system anywhere.
  16. Feb 12, 2014
This is twitch gaming at its finest, with beautifully tuned thumbstick controls and a pulsing rave soundtrack that only seems to focus the mind more sharply.
  17. 90
Definitely take a look at TxK if you’ve ever enjoyed any version of Tempest. Heck, grab it even if you haven’t and give yourself a proper introduction to a truly great game.

The secret lies in its ability to ask more from you. [May 2014, p.79]
  19. Feb 20, 2014
Vibrant, synesthetic, brilliant. The best version of Tempest is also Jeff Minter at his highest.
  20. Feb 17, 2014
One of the most polished experiences of the great trajectory of Jeff Minter, a new high for the Tempest-like games that it´s enjoyable for veterans and new players.

If you like the sound of a retro-inspired shooter, want a massive nostalgia hit, or just want to have a lot of fun with your Vita, TxK is a no-brainer purchase.

Arcade gaming at it's very best, the game simply explodes off the stunning Vita screen. Turn up the music to 200%, put on headphones and get lost in the experience. It's really hard to put into words how good this game is. At last my Vita is being used. In fact I'd buy a Vita just to play this. Full Review »

Another brilliant Vita Indie game! Following on from OlliOlli released a few weeks ago. The game is great and the music goes perfectly.

Well worth a buy if you into arcade classics and want to kill some time and believe me it fly’s when you play this game!
