If you want to impart the important skills of twitchily thwaking bad dudes in dungeons on to a younger sibling, SD Gundam Force: Showdown! is a good start. [Jan 2005, p.107]
Showdown's preset camera angles aren't very intuitive--in later levels, players are constantly attacked from enemies offscreen, and Captain Gundam frequently can't see enemies that he is attacking. Also, the item system is clumsily implemented.
This is the reflexive kind of game that allows gamers to play through quick levels with a light entertainment feel. This is a nice little program, not exceptional, but still fun to play.
The cameras are lousy, the Gunam move too sluggishly, and there's very little depth. [Dec 2004, p.84]
The characters are the game's only saving grace. Recommended only for fans of the show and even then, only as a rental.
It provides a subpar experience all around. There's a solid feeling to the robots and the style of the game is cute, but there's nothing that really makes the game stand out and as such is only deserving of attention for those who are absolute die-hard fans who really need to see these robots in action.
The visuals are crisp, and cute, but other than that there are few words that can be saddled upon this game that are not dripping with disdain.
