Bomb Chicken is a classic indie puzzle-platformer that wears its developer’s history and influence on its sleeve. From its Super Nintendo-inspired, colorful pixel art to its one unique platforming mechanic, Bomb Chicken is truly an education in how to put together a satisfying gaming experience—though players hoping that the length and narrative of a game like Celeste or the ability progression of a Shovel Knight might make their way into a game about a chicken that lays bombs will be a little disappointed.
Bomb chicken is a really fun time. While on the short side it offers some really well thought out levels which may lead to high levels of frustration followed by a sense of euphoria particularly in the last few levels. The animation style and concept really pulled me in as well. Considering it's low price this is definitely worth looking into as a game to play on the go.
Bomb Chicken offers simple and enjoyable gameplay wrapped within excellently designed puzzle-platforming levels that offer a unique experience worth your time.
Bomb Chicken is an original action platformer and a very entertaining experience. the idea is unique, but sadly the value isn't there, as the game is a little too short.
Bomb Chicken is a very innovative puzzle-platformer that unfortunately suffers from a short runtime and limited replay value. However, for those that want a quick little single-player game that stars a cute chicken, there is no game better suited for the job.
Bomb Chicken isn't going to be breaking any molds. What it does, countless others have done before, and better. That doesn't mean it isn't a ton of fun, though, if a little brief. It is an ideal new title for speed-runners to stream, and all-in-all a fun, addictive, crazy, little arcade experience. Based on this, Nitrome is one to watch; it certainly has a promising future ahead.
Great pixelart and challenging gameplay, that's all you can expect from this little gem. I recommend it for all Nintendo Switch players, but I warn you... in the later stages the puzzles will get really hard, so be prepared!
It's a really fun game and the pixel art is pretty great.
In the later stages the puzzles will get harder and demand the player to think before they act or you'll die numerous times, as I did.
As a longtime Nitrome fan, Bomb Chicken is just what I expected from their console debut: tight gameplay, smart puzzles, crazy concepts and masterclass pixel art. Their take on Nintendo's golden rule (craft your game around a single mechanic and explore all possibilities) could be used in game design classes.
Other then the smooth pixel animations and art-style in some of the level designs, the game offers nothing special, it is just too simple, too much so that it hurts the game. There's no story, only game play, pure game play, and the game play offers hardly anything. Even eight buttons on the controller do the exact same thing, which is lay bombs. If you're looking for a simple, perhaps boring and dull puzzle platformer, then Bomb Chicken is for you, but otherwise I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
SummaryAfter a freak accident, a seemingly ordinary chicken becomes a bomb laying free range hero. Explore the versatile mechanic of laying bombs in this explosive exploration platformer.
