Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn delivers a lot of extra content and manages to delve even deeper into the history of the people of Dehna and Rena, making it a mandatory DLC for anyone who loved spending hours on end helping Alphen and his friends in the main campaign.
Wonderful storytelling. I didnt mind at all that they reused all of the old areas. Since seeing the world i know after the main story was what I ****'s special for a game to tell a story about troubles that linger in the world after the "big bad" is defeated.Prejudice. Fear. Distrust. Old wounds. And Alphens struggle with people's expectations of him. He saved the Renans, but they only see him as the destroyer of their way of life. He saved the Denans, but now some extremists among them are behaving horribly - and calling him traitor for not siding with ****'s a painful mess with a beautiful arc.Writing at its best. And loads of hours play. It's everything I wanted from the expansion. Worth the price to me. The only weird thing was how they set all players at level 70, and you don't keep your items, so it's a bit disorienting. But not too much. It feels balanced anyway.
If you loved the game, you're gonna love this DLC. It's almost 40 hours more of content if you want to unlock everything and have all the achievements.
It contains lots of stories about all the things that you saw in the little pictures for the ending of the original game. However, they do tell us a lot of extras to explain those images, and also the story about Nazamil, the new character of the DLC.
If you loved the game, don't hesitate to get this DLC. It's more of what you loved before :D
Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn is a great way to come back to the excellent 2021 RPG, giving fans the chance to revisit familiar places and faces while also taking a good look at a side of the classic world-saving hero story we don't alway see. It treads a lot of familiar ground, and it's somewhat awkwardly implemented, but it's well worth seeking out for franchise fans and anyone that enjoyed the main game.
Overall, Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn is an expansion fit for the main game’s already fantastic base. Fans who enjoyed the original game will find themselves feeling the same way they did before. Fortunately, Beyond the Dawn ties it up with a simple yet effective bow. While it could’ve been neater, it delivers a worthwhile experience for big-time fans.
Beyond the Dawn is a hefty expansion, but a lot of that heft is stuff you'll have already seen and experienced in the original game. While it doesn't go out of the way to explore a new perspective or shake up the formula of the base game, if you're a diehard fan of Tales of Arise, this DLC is a super rewarding trip down memory lane.
Honestly, if you want more Tales of Arise, just go play the base game again. It’s still fun to play and has better storytelling and characterization, along with the added bonus of being a full, complete game all on its own. The only people I can imagine enjoying this DLC are diehard fans who simply want “more” Tales of Arise and spend more time with the characters. If that’s what you’re looking for, you came to the right place, for better or worse.
Tales of Arise is a solid JRPG, if not the strongest Tales series entry. Beyond the Dawn is disappointing, even by the standards set by the main game. If, for some reason, you’ve read this review without playing the main game, rest assured that it’s decent fun. This DLC expansion, however, can be left out of your cart.
TLDR: If you liked Tales of Arise base game, you will like Beyond the Dawn. If you didn’t, then this won’t change your mind.
I fall into the former category and I am happy with this DLC. The game took me about 20 hours to complete and I spent at least 50% of my playtime with a silly grin over getting to see these characters banter and interact again. Although this DLC doesn’t reinvent the wheel—and there are no new combat characters or artes—it does improve on several complaints I had on the 2nd half of the main story. The pacing, dungeon quality, side quest quality, and final boss are a definite step up. If I had to nitpick then I do think the final dungeon dragged on a bit too long, but this was the only time I felt the pacing was off. I enjoyed the focus on Alphen’s arc in this DLC, which was well deserved after Shionne’s arc was arguably the emotional core of the base game.
Overall, this was a wonderful opportunity to reunite with the Arise cast and go on one last well-paced journey that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Would recommend.
Beyond the Dawn was fun and endearing, worth the 35-40ish hours w./ the arena and side quests added in. If you liked the base game, it's worth it. Some of the side quests have you running around but they are usually short, the hassle is the loading screen between zones that take 10 sec to move through. I do wish there were 2-3 more artes added but hey it's still fun if you enjoyed the base game. I never played Tales Of games for the story although it has a cute bit of closure at the end. It is easy to break the game if you know how to transfer skills on the accessories so I'd recommend playing on Chaos which did get pretty easy at the end. Just my 0.02, but it's still a fun continuation of one of the better Tales games.
Okay dlc with 80% not happening much. Butsirs more tales and a few moments are good. Mostly you are just doing fetch quests basically no new maps. And the story is okayish at best. But even lame tales of is still good, just don't expect anything mind blowing. Just like the original game.
SummaryIn this title, you can experience a new story and adventure set in the world after the union of two worlds. You can enjoy the story of a new encounter with a girl named Nazamil and experience the reunion of Alphen and his parties to confront the fierce destiny she has followed.
