Whether you want to pay £7.99 for a standalone adventure you may have already played before is up to you. If you missed out on the DLC the first time around, though, and you’re a Borderlands fan, it’s well worth jumping into; Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep was a highlight of Borderlands 2‘s season pass, and it’s just as joyous to play now. And if you’ve never tried a Borderlands game before, why not start here? The first-person shooter action is on point, and it’s packed with silly humour and more loot than you can ever imagine. For less than a tenner, you really can’t go wrong.
Is this One-Shot Adventure an essential replay? Absolutely not, but as a nice primer for the upcoming leap into Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, this chaotic dose of cell-shaded action-fantasy is well worth the short return trip.
Really enjoyed playing this game. Loved the story & missions. Graphics were great and the gameplay was really enjoyable. Need more games like this for sure.
Well thought to seperate the DLC. Since the main goal was to show the public what to expect from Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, having to install Borderlands 2 and telling people to play the DLC would not be immersive since Borderlands 2 is greatly different from the environment presented in Tiny Tina's DLC. The mechanics might be familiar, but you don't want to show the chaotic world swarmed with bandits and psychos to someone who you're trying to direct to a satirical fantasy game.
The only thing holding back both my score and opinion, is that there was a very, very wrong option that backlashed. The paywall.
If you want to PROMOTE Wonderlands, you should not charge for this standalone DLC. You should give it away for free. Now that would be good advertisement for Wonderlands, it's a win-win situation for both publisher and players.
And i'm not talking about PS Plus, i'm talking about F2P, fully F2P on all platforms, raise the price to 0,00€ , let players get to know the world your next title is going to happen. Let them learn about how good your narrative can be, and make their decision to buy the next thing.
Assault On Dragon Keep misses out on a chance to be a fun bite-sized adventure by giving you too little of the fun character interactions and far too much of the annoying bullet sponge enemies and grindy RPG mechanics.
Would have given it a higher score due to how much it has to offer in terms of locations and content (it IS very cheap) but the fact that the game made me clear out a whole level twice when my save spawned me at the start of a map I had already finished and respawned every damn enemy along the way made me lose my **** ****.option.
Epitome of mediocre - 5/10
This "game" is the perfect example of why NAMES are important. Nevermind the long title, this so called "stand-alone" is just a direct port. The new one. ( or is there ? ) is so title lost, that nobody has any idea what the **** this next game is about. Poor timing and poor choices have led to a thoroughly disappointing experience for all. Get with the times or get off.
