  • Summary: The clock has stopped around the turn of the 19th century, and humankind has prematurely blown itself to bits. The remaining scraps are huddling in caves beneath the surface, and steam-powered robots have taken over the Wild West.

But seriously, this is an ideal game for this platform, and great to just pick up and play at any time.

With tight controls, a lush Western soundtrack, and beautifully animated sprites, SteamWorld Dig is one of this year's best games on the Wii U eShop, joining Ittle Dew in the "gorgeous Swedish indie adventures" category.

SteamWorld Dig is a highly recommended game for those who enjoy platformers with an interesting and unique experience.

A little bit more variety in gameplay would have made it the perfect game, but SteamWorld Dig comes at a low price point, so there isn’t any real point in complaining about what is ultimately a well-polished and entertaining title.

Minor annoyances - more noticeable after four ports of the game - prevent the game from ever reaching indie perfection, but this is an experience not to be missed.

The game is addictive and a lot of fun. What the Wii U offers over and above the others is that you can play it both on the TV or solely on the gamepad.

Even without offering a reason for veteran players to return, SteamWorld Dig for Wii U is a great opportunity for those that still haven't experienced this good game from Image & Form.

Nice old-style graphics, interesting level design and upgrade system will give 5-10 hours of good gameplay. The only cons of the game - it is too short, Some DLC is wanted. Expand

Good game all around. Mining for ores in the early game is a bit tedious, but once the game ramps up and you get used to the mechanics, it gets fun. But then, it ends...pretty early. At most you'll get about 7 hours of gameplay if you're trying to find every nook and cranny and buy every upgrade. There's no NG+, so that's it. Beat the game. I'm not even sure if there's multiple endings, but I don't see a reason to play through it again. Expand

Nice game with nice mechanics BUT waaay too short. Can't recomend it if you have to pay more than 5 bucks for this. When it starts to get interesting it just ends...pity.. Expand
