An absorbing, tactically rich fighter with endless replay value. [May 2011, p.60]
  2. There's no question that Guilty Gear XX is a great game, one of the best and deepest 2-D fighters to come out in quite some time. There's also no question that Accent Core Plus is thus far the definitive version of Guilty Gear XX. Newcomers will love it, and hardcore fans will want to explore the few new features. However, casual and even dedicated fans won't find the additions worth a whole new purchase.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core + foregoes a lot of fluff and gives you a high-dose injection of lightning fast fighting, sweet combos and heavy metal, but there's not a lot of new content for those who own the previous version. Still, it's a quality fighter.
  4. The addition of the Story mode is welcome since it gives the single-player game some longevity, but I can't help but feel that a true sequel to Guilty Gear XX is long overdue. [May 2009, p.91]

A decent 2D fighter that fully deserves the birthday celebration but feels a little rushed. [July 2011, p.91]

    Quotation forthcoming.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus represents nothing new in the series' history: extremely demanding but equally rewarding when the player successess in mastering its mechanics.
