  1. Out on the track, you'll race primarily in two modes--Grip and Drag races. Both styles give you an excellent hands-on feel that brings home the sense of speed and real-world challenge. [Holiday 2007, p.85]
  2. The more you enjoy your cars, the more you'll get out of it. [Jan 2008, p.36]
  3. Apart from looking like an ugly baby conceived in the back of a broken-down El Camino by a couple of illeterates, tilting the Wii remote translates to your car surprisingly well. [Dec 2007, p.137]

By losing the open city nature of previous games and restricting you to organised events the series has lost a large part of what was fun about it in the first place. Add to that the fact that the driving itself seems to have become horribly broken since last year and suddenly you're left with a game that's relying solely on its image to shift copies.

excellent control system that uses the WiiMote to a great effect, if you like your cars you will definately enjoy this game. The "professional" reviews here are unduly harsh in my book. Worth a try for sure. Expand

Great graphics for the wii. I thought the controls where a lot better than Carbon. Disappointed that there was no online mode, even though I've heard that the 360's online mode was bad. The game seems very long and I've ran about 30 races and I am only 4% done. The problem with the game is its not challenging, out of the 30 races I ran, I've won 28 of them and the two that I lost where because of user error in the drag mode. The announcer was really annoying but I just turned him down in the options and its fine now. The advertisement is a bit much but everyone is in it for the money, right? Overall: not an amazing game, but a good racing game. Expand
