  • Summary: The Sam & Max episodes let players guide the Freelance Police through a series of bizarre—and often sidesplitting—mysteries. Sam is a six-foot dog in a baggy suit sporting a trombone-sized .44 hand-cannon. Max is a three foot "rabbity thing" with a saw blade grin and the impulsive nature of the average piranha. Together they patrol the sticky streets of a fantastical New York City, righting wrongs, pummeling perps, and ridding the urban landscape of the shifty legions of "self-propelled gutter trash" that litter their streets. Sam & Max have appeared in comics, video games, an animated TV series coming soon to DVD, and an Eisner award-winning webcomic. [TellTale Games] Expand

  1. For both the young (who were either too youthful or not even born to have been around for the point & click adventure gaming rage of the early 1990s) and old (those who were lucky enough to have experienced the golden age of LucasArts point & click adventuring, including the classic Sam & Max Hit the Road), the Wii version of Sam & Max Season One is sure to bring more than a few rib-tickling chuckles and guffaws along with the superbly written story for a hilarious gaming journey.
  2. Finally, point 'n' click done right. [Oct 2008, p.58]
  3. The adventures of Sam & Max are without a doubt the best point and click adventures ever. Despite the fact that the game doesn't even come close to the PC-version, we still recommend every gamer that has never played a Sam & Max before should start playing it. If you already played the game on your PC than there is nothing new for you to explore. But cheer up, season three is nearly coming!
  4. When the laughter dies and some of the jokes fall flat, however, Sam & Max teeters as its gameplay is unable to support much interest for some stretches. [Sept 2008, p.105]
  5. The first six episodes may not be perfect but they certainly show glimpses of the greatness that could well be on the way as the team get to grips with their new way of producing adventures for the duo.
  6. 70
There may be times when the humour falls flat, but on the whole this proves to be a pleasure right until the end.
  7. Because of the clever story and interesting characters, it's worth struggling to the end through the more tedious puzzles (or cheating with an online walkthrough). But if you were hoping for a more player-friendly adventure, you might want to skip straight to Sam and Max Season 2.

Sam And Max is a very entertaining series that kept me hooked with the insanely bizarre story and the clever puzzles. Highly recommended.

Sam & Max is a fairly fun game for anyone to play. No real control issues to note, pretty good graphics for a Wii game. One of the better point and clicks out there. Expand
