As simple as it is, SNK Arcade Classics is a solid collection and is especially appetizing if you haven't already purchased a bunch of individual Neo Geo games.
  2. Some of the games in this collection are better than you remember, but many are worse.
  3. What the collection lacks in extras it makes up for in value, as there is no better (or cheaper) way to get your SNK fix on the Wii.
  4. Like all arcade games, these aren't very long and can be beaten in an afternoon when you use unlimited continues, but there's no denying that it's a ton of fun while it lasts.

The sheer number of games on the disc combined with the cheap price tag makes it a steal to both classic gamers and newcomers.
  6. It was interesting seeing more from a company that I thought handled primarily fighting games, and I also got to see the history of a company that is beloved by millions of gamers.
  7. SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 moves onto the Wii with some better emulation and control options over the latter two making it a slightly more enjoyable experience.
  8. Nintendo Power
Not every game on the disc is a must-have hit, but there's a lot of fun to be had. [Oct 2008, p.89]
  9. In terms of retro gaming, this is probably the best deal you can currently get on the Wii.
  10. Even at the budget price label there’s not really that much to get excited about here unless you are a massive fan of SNK’s line up and haven’t played any of these titles in years.
  11. Official Nintendo Magazine UK
If you're after a nostalgia trip this is perfect. [Apr 2009, p.80]
  12. Nintendo Gamer
There are a few duffers here but the good definitely outweighs the bad. [Jan 2009, p.70]

SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 is a solid collection that features some fantastic Neo-Geo titles (Metal Slug, Shock Troopers, Last Resort) as well as some not-so-fantastic ones.
  14. Sure, it lacks some key games, (where's Super Baseball 2020?), but overall, this is one anthology you shouldn't miss.
  15. None of the games are of Street Fighter II or Golden Axe quality, but that shouldn’t discourage you from seeing what SNK has to offer, you might be surprised.
  16. SNK Arcade Classics Vol.1 ticks all retro-gaming boxes admirably, offering a satisfying and varied selection of authentically emulated games that deserve to be played, rather than left to gather dust in SNK’s vaults!
  17. So here we have a sixteen game collection for thirty bucks, that won’t take up a lot of space on your Wii, packs in some good games, and whose only problems are various other locations to play these games and a bit of hoop jumping for some of them.
  18. 14 out of the 16 games are winners, offering great value for money. Like most people, I never had the chance to play these games the first time around so it is a real treat to see what I missed.

The 16 SNK Neo-Geo arcade titles that come with it are pure old school fun from sports to side scrolling beat-em-ups,to traditional arcade fighters to side scrolling shooters this one has it all. Considering the high price of Neo-Geo consoles and game cartridges this collection is a nice cheap alternative way to get some of the best titles for the system and arcade machine for a good discount. The controls work great the games are ported well and they look great i would recommend this collection for any traditional gamer or arcade fan.
