  • Summary: This over-the-top baseball action title puts an entirely new spin on Major League Baseball as it blends outrageous visuals and intuitive gameplay mechanics to bring fans a brand new MLB video game experience. Fans redefine the baseball highlight reel by performing dramatic wall grabs, spectacular diving plays, and epic homeruns. Unique and intuitive gameplay controls deliver a new baseball experience, while advanced power-up mechanics add exciting depth with each turn. Turbo gameplay raises the action bar, and culminates in the ultimate batter pitcher power-up duel, where either the pitcher's Big Heat will be the turning point, or the batter’s Power Blast will be the explosive end to the game. In The BIGS, every play is a big play. Each MLB player has been individualized to emphasize their extraordinary athletic attributes. The development team paid great attention to detail to portray a player's face and physical characteristics so baseball fans will easily recognize their favorite players. To deliver the authentic MLB atmosphere, stadium landmarks have been stylized to highlight the unique architecture of each MLB ballpark. Whether it's the glove at San Francisco's AT&T Park resized to mammoth proportions or the left field wall in Boston's Fenway Park made into a real "Green Monster," gamers will be in awe at the grandeur of each stadium in The BIGS. 1. The Bigs brings tons of great ideas to life and gives players a much more fast-paced and fun game of baseball. While the problems are apparent, the overall package is solid enough for fans to enjoy a game of baseball without having to labor through hours of gameplay.

With a huge lineup of real players, unique and intuitive game play mechanics, and a solid multi-player component (even if it remains offline) The BIGS is more than worth the price of admission.
  3. The small pitfalls of graphics and lack of modes (including online) could easily be overlooked if the controls held up, but they don’t. It’s so uneven and just plain laggy that you end up fighting the game rather than playing it.

The Wii version doesn’t look as pretty as the other next gen consoles, but delivers back in spades with the realism that is offered by the Wii remote and nunchuck.
  5. In all, The Bigs is a decent baseball game for the Wii, but it really plays more like a game of real baseball than one is led to believe.
  6. This series holds some promise, as long as the issues with fielding are fixed by next years release (and we all know that if this sells more than four copies 2k will update the roster for next year) it'll be a great game. For now this is a quick game with friends only.
  7. In spite of its flaws, The BIGS is a highly recommend to anyone who enjoys virtual baseball or has done so in the past. The batting and pitching mechanics are a revelation. The Wii Remote is the best thing to happen to baseball video games since pitchers were given complete repertoires.

It's really fun, the players actually have the same stanes and swings as they do in real-life. It is fun for the whole family !!!

Awesome! Huge homeruns, and even bigger fun. Excellent first attempt a baseball on the wii. Very addicting!

A great baseball experience. It's loads of fun, despite some minor controller recognition issues, typically with fielding. The over-the-top action is great -- especially climbing up the wall to steal a home run, or hitting a home run that shatters a whole section of the scoreboard, and the fact that it stays shattered for the rest of the game is a nice touch. This game is alright. The controls are terrible for fielding and baserunning. There is no computer assistance so if you have more than one base runner it makes things very difficult. For being an arcade style game I thought it would be very easy to pick up and play, but the controls are just too confusing for this style of game. Its worth a rent it you need to play a baseball game, but I would just wait until next year when a baseball simulator comes to the wii. Expand

This game had the potential to be great. The pitching is fun and intuitive. You actually have to snap your wrist to throw a curveball. That said, 2kSports has clearly gotten lazy, maybe as a result of their not having any competition (exclusive mlb license). The rosters are horrificially outdated already. You can't change the way the game is played at all (no real options, an option to increase the number of points needed for an automatic home run would be nice). What really hurts this game though is how unintuitive fielding and baserunning are. There is no autoslide option, and slides are often not recognized by the Wii. Too bad. I hope future developers take notes on this game, in terms of making improvements for the future. Expand

It was fun for about the first hour or two, but then its appeal was much less. It also over uses the slow-motion moves and has the focussed to much on super human abilities instead of realism. I ended up taking it back because I never played it anymore. Expand

This game is way to hard too play hammered. I do not advise it.
