I'm a huge worms fan and was very disappointed with Team 17's turnout here. First and foremost, the camera controls are TERRIBLE. It's nearly impossible to consistently get the camera to pan across the screen. Those good old days of just move your mouse to change the camera view were tossed out of the window when they made this game. I have no clue how this game passed QC or any usability testing. The other huge downside is that there are so few weapons in the game, it gets boring. the whole fun of worms is wondering what's gonna pop out of that crate, a crazy old lady, a mad cow, an iron donkey?? No clue why the limited the game to about 25 weapons. Finally, the other annoyance i s that you have to play a rather boring story-mode to unlock the mini-games and other sound banks. This is just a pet peeve of mine, but if I shelled out the $50 for the game, I shouldn't have to complete boring, pointless challenges to unlock content that I paid for. One other major drawback - no online game play. Honestly, looking back on this... I have no idea why I bought this game. I'll most likely post it to ebay this weekend and see if I can get some of my $$ back. Overall, I'd say save your money and buy a different game. If you must have worms, I heard there's an XBOX live version of Worms 3d for $10 instead of the $50 they charge for this game. Expand

hard to control, only 17 weapons, no rope to swing around with anymore, you can get more weapons on the xbox arcade version for about $10. I'm only giving it a 1 because a zero would mean it doesn't exist and it does and it costs $65.

Terrible game. I am a huge fan of Worms, I play it almost daily in Nintendo DS. But the Wii game was just completely awful.

The game is fun. very customizable and the good humor continues. The controls take a bit to get used to, but are interesting once you get used to them. The only drawbacks are the price and the lack of online multi player.

Yes there are fewer weapons. Having no OL play is silly. But the controls are fine: Better than any previous Worms game in fact as you can even line up shots with dotted "practice throws". You can also see the whole screen by pressing the "+" button: It has a far, near and close camera that works great, and apparently undiscovered by some of the critics. The graphics aren't astounding. The gameplay is classic worms and lots of fun. Expand

  1. Multiplayer skirmishes still make for a good time, and I definitely support the return to 2-D, but this series just can't seem to take a real step forward without taking two steps back. [Apr 2008, p.85]
  2. This is one Worms game that should be left to float off in space. [Apr 2008, p.76]

The weapon control is fresh and fun, there's still a huge list of options, and the CG and voice work inclusion certainly helps. If you were hoping for a robust online experience, however, that will have to wait for A Space Oddity 2, which we're sure will be coming sometime down the line.
