Well, its the black sheep of the series, but, its a great standalone title, just not a great Zelda.

Fighting is, for me, better than in the first game, and levelling up, even if its confusing, make he game a LITTLE easier. Because its too damn hard. You lost energy so fast and, at each gameover, you RESTART AT SQUARE ONE! That's cheap. But the overall gameplay is still there,

But the overall gameplay is still there, and the RPG elements are a welcome addition!
And the palace theme is great!

Just like the original, this game has aged BADLY. But in my opinion, it's better than the original. Sure, it's difficult. Sure, it's ugly, even for an NES title. And yes, GOING BACK TO THE START OF THE GAME BECAUSE YOU GOT A GAME OVER IS COMPLETE ASS, but there's enjoyment to be had with this title. The combat is some of the best in the series, and the soundtrack is just pure pleasure toJust like the original, this game has aged BADLY. But in my opinion, it's better than the original. The combat is some of the best in the series, and the soundtrack is just pure pleasure to the ears. I do think Nintendo should experiment with this formula again, just make it less IMPOSSIBLE!!! There's enjoyment to be had with this game, but the negatives are keep it from being a great Zelda game. Expand
