  • Summary: [Xbox Live Arcade] Set in the swashbuckling era, Age of Booty is a casual real-time multiplayer strategy game that puts players at the helm of their own pirate ship with the goal of sending your enemies to the briny deep, and looting and capturing towns for your pirate faction. In Age of Booty, players team up with other online players or AI-controlled pirate ships to raid, pillage, sink, and destroy their way to dominance on the high seas. Spoils of war and booty are used to upgrade and customize pirate ships to make them even more deadly as players take on 25 unique challenges and seven of the most devious Pirate Alliances on the high seas. Single player and multiplayer real-time action strategy from Certain Affinity, lead by Max Hoberman, designer of Halo 2 and 3's multiplayer game. Master twenty-five unique multiplayer maps or create your own and share them with your friends. Up to four players on one console, up to eight players over LAN or the Internet. 1. Age of Booty gets huge points for common sense multi-player options and for being an entertaining, polished strategy game that's perfect for a quick or medium length game fix for small groups.
  2. The included map editor defines the term user-friendly. [Oct 2008, p.84]
  3. Booty's multiplayer oozes longevity. [Nov 2008, p.101]
  4. The game could have used a little more variety, but this $10 game proves to be yet another great game from Capcom!
  5. Simple as it is, Age of Booty is a great way for all kinds of gamers to learn the basics of RTS gameplay.
  6. While not devoid of fun moments, overall Age of Booty feels more like an endurance match than a strategy game in which the first one to slip up loses.
  7. Just don't bother playing alone. [Christmas 2008, p.94]

Awesome multiplayer mode. It is a simple RTS game - but has lots of strategic depth - and is a real hoot when you get a good team together. You really need a headset for multiplayer to work properly i.e. communication with your team is important!

Production values are very high and I expect to be playing this addictive game for many months to come.

For 800 points - this is really is XBLA bargain of the year.

Get plundering you scurvy dogs! Yar!

Age of Booty is a really great casual game. It combines some really deep strategy elements with a stunningly simple interface that's easy for anyone to pick up and play. The theme, visuals and sound track are all good cheeky fun and go a long way towards emjamcomg tje ex[eroemce/ The single player 'challenges' are fun but this game truly shines in multiplayer mode which sports a plethora of different maps and team play scenarios. This game likely won't make your pulse poind, but it *will* provide hours and hours of lively, low impact fun, and after all isn't that what gaming is all about? Expand
