Every FPS game has its place but if you loved Battlefield 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 and sunk hours into the multiplayer of those games, then be prepared to sink another few hundred hours into Battlefield 3.

Maybe Battlefield 3's off-line side is a little bit irregular, but the multiplayer mode is outright stunning. Those players looking for a game full of innovation will be disenchanted, however if you're looking for an amazing competitive on-line experience this is it.

All in all, Battlefield 3 is one of the best multiplayer experiences around.

Sadly, Battlefield 3 is only capable of being the game it should be on a decent PC. As good as it is on the console (looks pretty good for a console game, and is technically pretty stable) - it is still a shadow of it's true self. We don't know if DICE actually favoured the PC as a platform over the consoles, but we feel they did try their best. Sadly, the ageing console hardware naturally limits what is possible.

All the other components are in place and Battlefield 3 is a good game, but the x-factor of the players is holding it back right now.

Your enjoyment of Battlefield 3 will be dependent on what you want out of it. If you are the type of gamer who only wants to play the game for its story then I would highly suggest you rent this game first so that you know what you are getting in to. The multiplayer is really where the fun is here and if you have been a fan of the franchise in the past then you should have a great time here.

Still, as a complete package it in no way lives up to the expectation. Only one of its three core elements (single player, co-op and multiplayer) is worth your time, the other two feeling as though they've been added merely to increase the number of potential bullet points on the back of the box. Depending on which elements you're interested in Battlefield 3 will either be your game of the year, or your letdown of… well, the year.

A flawed game, this title was rushed to the shelves to beat modern mappack 3 to the market. it did that, but dropped a lot of content to make the deadline. Destruction is toned down, Como-rose is useless, the squad menu is outright broken, and many of the weapons are peculiar balanced. That said, the game is fantastic, and outright addictive. Be prepared to lose whole days of you life to this title. The Battlefield have absorbed thousands of player ours, and this looks likely to do the same (one the issues are patched up). In no other shooter can you fire a gun, command a squad, fly a chopper, dogfight in a jet, drive a tank, or a hummer, use a mortar, and have the freedom of the whole map. This game is brilliant, and I'm going to stop writing this, and go play some more of it. P.S. On a side note, the Single player is a load of tripe. the Story is unimagined, the QTE's are annoying, the climax is uninspired and the cutseans are prolific. This is a MP game only Expand

I guess I will first start off by saying this game is AMAZING!!! Sure its not perfect, but it is close. I am totally loving the new Frostbite 2 engine, it brings so much to the table. I mean who doesn't like to take down whole buildings with some C4? Or fly in a massive battle! Or actually have to use team work to get a mission done. This game in my opinion is by far the most rounded off shooter out there right now, and nothing about it feels COOKIE CUTTER like MW3! End of story BF3 is the shooter to have! Expand

This game is incredibly fun. Never was a big fan of the BF series, but BC2 was what turned me. The online is hectic and tactical/slow and deliberate all at the same time. This iteration shows a huge leap in the controls and hit detection. Your movement is tight and fluid. Gone is the BC2 clunkiness. Minimal lag so far which is surprising on launch nite. IMPROVED EVERY SINGLE ISSUE MANY HAD WITH THE BETA! First game i got in i had a "Battlefield Moment". Its an amazing feeling to be defending an MCOM and feel a huge explosion and turn around to see the building you are in now has a huge hole in the wall. It is so immersive. The campaign is akin to a blockbuster movie more so than a huge adventure, but thats how fps games are in todays industry. Anyone saying this experience is less than an 8 needs to stop basing their review on how well they play online and start basing it on the game itself. BF3 is sure to be the top contender for shooters this year. i give it a 10 simply because it lives up to all it was said to be, which is all most gamers ask for. Great work DICE! Expand

First of all,I am a COD fanboy.I never used to think there was any other multiplayer stunners out there.I occasionally played the halo series,Killzone, uncharted, red dead and others online. To me though, nothing could match COD.
I then tried the bad company 2 beta and thought,ok this might be good.I purchased it on release day and for the last year I've enjoyed many sessions going between Black ops and bad company 2 equally.

When Battlefield 3 came out I couldn't wait to get stuck in,and was grateful that it wasn't the same release date as MW3 so I could hammer it's multiplayer before MW3's release date.
The first thing that I noticed when going online was the awesome map design.Like the Caspian border for example is absolutely epic, with all the trees moving in the wind, the excellent lighting effects and also the streams running through the forest areas.
You jump in a tank at the beginning and all you're team mates are along side in jeeps, humvees, apaches and hornets fly overhead creating an awesome atmosphere.
The campaign mode is pretty good but I tend to think of it as kind of a training mode to prepare new players for the multiplayer.
The graphics are a slight step above bad company 2 which was a very pretty game and it doesn't disappoint.
For the first week of multiplayer the servers went down which was frustrating but now it works flawlessly online and I have never felt any lag on this game because of the dedicated servers.
All of the vehicles feel just right and are very satisfying to use, especially when you try taking control of the skies.
Battlefield encourages teamwork and you are rewarded xp for supplying teammates with health, ammo, repairs or reviving them. When your teammates work together to capture an objective and look after each other this is one of gamings greatest moments and I already have so many funny, embarrassing moments on this game and look forward to many more.

The only negatives I can speak of are the interior of the buildings could be more detailed. The aforementioned servers going down on the first few days.
Also sometimes when running through rubble after a building has collapsed you can get caught up on bits of scenery.

Well that's my verdict and my postman has just popped Skyrim through the door,so it's gonna be a long weekend.
I hope you found this review helpful.

No BETA for consoles. If DICE didn't do a beta testing for console it wouldn't have turn away people when they cancel their pre=orders. However where did all these Bad Company 2 Fanboys come from? Sigh "Batftulfiedllz suppoze to haz destrusitionnn" oh shut the **** up! Since when did destruction make Battlefield unique? The original BF(BF 1942) didn't have any of that glitch **** you retards call destruction. BF1942, BF3 and BF2 over BFBC2 because it is too small, no enough gun variety and all the vehicles are too slow and on top of that HAVE OF THE GAMES I JOIN THERE IS NOT A SINCE ****ING PERSON IN THERE! BFBC2 IS DEAD!! MOVE THE **** ON!! WHO ****ING CARES?!?!!? LMAO (BFBC2 fanboy shield enable) The flaws of BF3: Frame rate drops, some input lag and yes there is some un-balanced gameplay. Other then that it gets an 8. Expand

Reasonable game, i do prefer the bad companies better as they had more of a destructive feel and had heavy team work game modes as well as lone wolf game modes online, this game doesn't and is teamworked base but not quite enough and should have lone wolf style e. It can be a glitchy with spawns at some points but is a good now and then game. Expand

Seems like a cheap MW knockoff. It is hard controls. The campaign is so bad you will throw up. I didn't know Xbox games allowed games to ship with this many bugs, bad MS! Worst buy ever. Expand

We take a look at the biggest games due out between now and the end of the year, from "Uncharted 3" to "Battlefield 3" to "Modern Warfare 3." It looks like three is indeed the magic number.
