Still, BioShock 2 not only re-captures the dystopian aesthetic, gripping narrative, and deep gameplay of Irrational's original, but it actually greatly improves on the BioShock experience as a whole, fine-tuning what made Jack's voyage to Rapture such a memorable experience two years ago.
  2. Was the return to Rapture worth it? Absolutely. Although the odds seemed stacked against the developers, having to do without both Ryan and Levine, they have delivered a rich, awesome trip through one the most fantastic video game environments ever built.

It's a game in which story, setting, and gameplay are expertly blended to create an experience that's as thought-provoking as it is entertaining.
  4. In many ways BioShock 2 is a game about refinements, rather than wholesale changes.
  5. The second trip in the sick architectures of Rapture is still highly enjoyable, but this time you'll miss the fascination of discovery.
  6. More than a new chapter, Bioshock 2 appears rather like an expansion to the first iteration. In spite of its vibrant settings and an impeccable control system, you get the feeling of déjà-vu from the first minute you are back in Rapture. So why did we give it a high score? Well, we still love Rapture after all!
  7. The star of the game though is undoubtedly the setting, and though I’ve enjoyed Bioshock 2 a lot less than the first game I am pretty sure that if 2K have got a third game in mind, I’ll be unable to resist the temptation to go back to Rapture once more.

The story might not have as many twists and turns and the characters might not be as memorable BUT Bioshock 2 beats out the original in game The story might not have as many twists and turns and the characters might not be as memorable BUT Bioshock 2 beats out the original in game play in every way. Hacking is improved, duel wield weapons and plasmids, upgrades are more noticeable in plasmids and weapons and controls a lot smother. Sill has the creepy feel with new foes and a lot of decayed environments. Rapture is still awesome and the story of Bioshock 2 is the best you will find, well besides the original. Collapse

Bioshock 2 is an explosion of gameplay, a astonishing soundtrack and one of the most gripping narratives i have ever been told. Playing as a big daddy is loads of fun as splicers fall to the way side and even other big daddies provide little challenge near the end of this adventure, but thats not a bad thing, if one bid daddies not a challenge heres two more...go nuts. Bioshock 2 is amazing and deserves to be praised as one of gamings greatest adventures. Expand

If you played the first Bioshock, everything feelsBioshock 2's biggest flaw isn't one of technical or story parts, but rather the feeling. If you played the first Bioshock, everything feels all too familiar. It is no longer as mysterious and as a result, the game loses some of its luster. However, I will say the game is a step up from the first in its design and gameplay. While not vastly improved, minor annoyances such as the hacking minigame has been simplified. I just wish I felt like a Big Daddy throughout the whole game. The story on the other hand, while not as shocking or engrossing, is more clearly told and is much tighter emotionally since there is a set goal from the beginning. The multiplayer of Bioshock 2 is good, but nothing we haven't seen before. In the end, Bioshock 2 does not surpass the original, but boy it sure is fun to play. Expand
