  1. Borderlands is a excellent title, which is a must have for fans of both FPS and RPG games.

The fun I had with the rock-solid gunplay and extensive role-playing elements was considerably amplified by each additional player. Borderlands is an absolute blast that I'll go back to again and again, even if my friends aren't around to help out.
  3. One of the great things about Borderlands is that there is always plenty to do. In addition to the story missions there are always a number of other missions available, either from characters that you meet in the game or from job boards in the friendly settlements.
  4. Borderlands isn't the most complex of games, in fact it's quite simple as you're not really interacting much with anything like it somehow feels you should be able to. However the execution in the areas it does well in are well polished and entices gamers who have gaming addictions.
  5. Not nearly as epic as Fallout 3 but intriguing and addictive for level-grind-loving gamers. [Dec 2009, p.72]
  6. It’s rarely frustrating, always fun, and a total blast when it comes to multiplayer. While the story won’t change anyone’s life, the presentation and gameplay are more than enough reason to journey to Pandora.
  7. Alluringly lurid, but ultimately disposable. [Dec 2009, p.92]

I have never put more hours into a game or have been more addicted to one (150+ hours). I have no idea why I found it so absurdly addicting. I hadn't even played co-op which is the game's crown jewel. The DLC for it was awesome and extended the life of the game by a large margin. My favorite game this gen and looking at the cover, I would have never thought.

Also, I loved the ending. It was such a slap in the face. Definitely Borderland's style.

A great blend of many genres this game is both visually stunning and fun. Whether solo or with friends you can never quite put it down because you always want to run just one more mission or find that one better gun. This game will appeal to RPG aficionados, action fans and all walks of gamers in between. A must have for this holiday season and beyond! Expand

Borderlands retains the best elements of Fallout 3, leveling, skills, open RPG environment, and the first person shooter behavior and ridiculous weapons variety of Modern Warfare, all wrapped up in an orignal and creative style. The opportunities for developing a unique character based on the choices you make in the game are nearly infinite. I love this game, a must buy! Expand

No story to speak of, but the action is awesome and the variation of guns is stagering, Each kill or chest holds the hope of a better gun or artifact. The multiplayer is also great finishing a quest in your friends game completes it in yours as well. The car is nothing special just a good way to get around so don't expect any great vehicular battles but as I said the solo or team combat is just too good to miss. I recommend choosing the soldier if you are unsure tossing out a turret to distract and pick off enemies while you finish off the rest is great. The upgrade system is fun but not super deep, although I was always super excited to spend my upgrade point each time I levelled up. Expand

It's a very fun game, but if you're like me, you'll spend a lot of time lamenting the vast amount of untapped potential in this game. If the devs spent maybe 2-3 more months on this game, it would be epic. The game combines the best elements from a lot of games (think Diablo meets Call of Duty while doing World of Warcraft quests), but implements the borrowed elements in a very shallow way. There isn't enough differentiation between the four classes, they play pretty similarly because every class can become competently proficient in every weapon class. The skill trees do not do enough to differentiate the classes from each other, or to even differentiate your build for a single class vs. a different player's build for the same class. If I'm doing my calculations correctly, by the time you reach the level cap, you'll have enough skill points to descend 2 of the 3 skill trees (compare that to World of Warcraft, where you only get enough skill points to descend one skill tree, with a few extra points to spread between the other two). The result is a lack of custimization in builds, which is disappointing. There is also a lack of variety in the quests. The quests are either collect x items, or kill x enemies. There is a lack of variety in the enemies. There is a lack of variety in the weapons and equipment. Hopefully, DLC will expand the content of this game because it is on the verge of epic. Gearbox would do well to add more skills, weapons, quest-types, enemies, and maybe even character classes. Expand

I have only played this game through 1 time with 1 friend (2 people playing) and I gotta say it is pretty underwhelming. The idea is there, SOME guns are cool (the fact that their are "bazillions" of them is lame considering many are the same), but I never really felt involved in any way. Its just "go here, do this go back, repeat and none of it is particularly fun. Bottom Line: Fun if you have friends to play with and dont mind doing mindless (and imo pointless) quests killing things and backtracking. If you want substance from a game, look elsewhere. Expand

An awful sad, boring to the teeth game. Even worst than the ridiculous first installment, this train wreck of a game is dull, predictable and generic to the extreme. Same old same old mediocre FPS game disguised as a very bad written RPG. Avoid at all costs. Expand
