  • Summary: This is an action game in which players earn points for creating traffic pileups. From a top-down perspective, players initiate crashes by driving 'cartoony' vehicles (e.g., cars, trucks, vans, buses) into busy intersections; multiple crashes trigger score multipliers and rack up large 'bills' of property damage. Each level is accompanied by crashing sounds, small explosions, and vocal encouragement (e.g., 'Cool,' 'Maximum Carnage!'). In some levels, players are instructed to crash into police cars (e.g., 'Crash them before they bust you!'); in other sequences, oversized airplanes, tornados, lobster monsters, and UFOs slide across the screen, destroying any vehicles in their path. From its simple premise Crash! delivers plenty of fun to reproduce a simple childhood joy.

Overall this is what an XBLA game should be a fun and addictive pick up and play game, if your favourite part of Burnout was the crash mode this may definitely be worth a look, there is value for money here and a very enjoyable game for a decent price.

The actual driving element is minimal, but if you like puzzle or arcade-style games, Burnout CRASH! is right up your alley. It's certainly charming and addictive, and for $10, it doesn't get a whole lot wrong. I'm just hoping that the next game that comes along with the Burnout name sticks a little closer to the roots of the series.

With it's over the top package and lighthearted gameplay, this arcade/puzzler succeeds in implementing the Burnout feel we all know and love. Sadly, it's plagued by shallow, repetitive and all to random gameplay that even EA's ingenius Autolog feature fails to make rewarding. Despite all it's promise and potential, this is little but a failed Criterion-funded experiment.

  1. It's hardcore and awesome.

A quick to play and addicting game, bringing back a favored aspect of previous Burnout titles that was missing (or just too different to recognize) in Paradise. Watching buildings fall is satisfying and the balance between the biggest explosion and safely clogging the road is always fun to weigh. Expand
  3. A good little arcade romp spun off from the great Burnout franchise. Nothing too complicated here. Crash vehicles into other vehicles, structures and hidden prizes. Good replay value, very accessible to non-hardcore players and achievement hounds alike. Fun gameplay for the kids as well. Worth the points. Expand
  4. The exclusion of multiplayer is a travesty. Shame on you Criterion. Shame on you.

Overall it is a fun game with adequate replay value court
esy of the star system and EA's Autolog. This is obviously more valuable if you have friends with the game. However, as mentioned above, be sure those friends aren't in the same house with you. If they are, you won't be able to play with them at all (ignoring the odd Kinect-only-local-multiplayer mode).

In summary, it's worth buying if you have lots of friends that aren't really that close.
