  • Summary: Call of Juarez provides the only Western first-person shooter experience on Xbox 360. Call of Juarez captures the brutality and ruthlessness that turned the American Frontier into a theater of war. Players experience legendary Wild West action including duels at high noon, gruesome shootouts and barroom brawls. The intense multiplayer modes pit bands of money-hungry outlaws against one another through a variety of game options and different terrain. An authentic Wild West single-player campaign puts players into the world of both the hunter AND the hunted, each equipped with contrasting weaponry, styles and motives. The hunted, Billy Candle, is determined to prove he's not a nobody. But when his parents are murdered, Billy stands accused. Hot on his trail is his stepfather's brother, the hunter, Reverend Ray McCall, a legendary gunfighter who believes that the lord has chosen him to be Billy's judge, jury and executioner. 1. Call of Juarez does a fascinating job of blending an epic period in history with an already proven gaming genre. It strays here and there, but it is the overall experience that Techland set out to provide, which I feel they have succeeded at tremendously.
  2. The original and bold, Call of Juarez draws you into it’s brutally clichéd Wild West adventure complete with a fun online mode, interesting story, gritty violence, and authentic gun play.

It's easy to look at Call of Juarez and see a game split down the middle, one half great and the other horrible, but to give it the credit it deserves, such a bold use of divided narrative just about makes it worthwhile for the most part with the style of both sections always perfectly in character and the ever switching perspective from hunter to hunted driving the game along even when the on screen action becomes less enjoyable.
  4. Call of Juarez takes few risks with its setting or genre, but it does what it does well enough to be enjoyable.

this baby is what the xbox 360 needs. be sure to jump on this when it arrives. in a world of million shooting games, there isnt a decent western shooter...which is to me, unbelivable, considering thats where all this shooting stuff comes from. the sole purpose of the western movies is to show people getting wacked in bars and duels, indians on horses right?...we are so buried under lazer beams and made up stupid looking aliens that we forget where the nuts and bolts of action and fps games should be. so, judging from the pc version...this is gold. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A game not afraid to take chances and have fun with itself. The atmosphere is excellent, thanks to a great cinematic score and a great variety of gameplay including horses, dueling, stealth and flat-out action. Expand
  4. I heard about Call of Juarez soon after finishing a game called Gun, and I spent months looking for it. Then finally in the clearance section of a music store I found Call of Juarez for $20. I got home, played it for an hour, then never touched it again. The voice acting is so horrible I hope they're not professionals, Ubisoft must have rounded up a bunch of artists and programmers and made them read the lines. Expand
