  1. Without question one of the finest racing games available today. Fantastic.
  2. Jan 24, 2011

Whilst admittedly rough around the edges in parts, the bulk of the virtual racing experience is entirely refreshing.
  3. If Codemasters can covert a hardcore arcade loyalist like myself, I can only imagine how quickly it will steal the soul of a true F1 fan.

  2. This is effectively a "Beta" release as the amount of bugs in the game are unacceptable. In career mode in my first season, problems ranged from other drivers not pitting, most of the time resulting in a HRT finishing in the top 3, AI drivers hitting into me, and i get a warning or a penalty for causing an incident. In the second season for some reason the qualifying is not knockout anymore, just standard quali from years ago. Most of the time i don't know what curbs i can touch and ones i can't because its inconsistent as hell, but most of the time its best not to touch them at all, as just riding over them without touching the accelerator in dry conditions spin you out. This is clearly something they put in deliberately to stop so called "cheating", when it just infuriates someone like me, who is quite a aggressive driver, ala Lewis Hamilton, who wants, and should be able to use the curbs. The Damage model is beyond stupid, its stonkingly ridiculous. A crash which would in real life take off your entire front wing *may* take off a tiny chunk off your front wing. That is it. Any more than that and you need to crash straight into a wall at 150 MPH, but then you total the car. The only positives to come out of the game is the actual feel of the car itself, but then you would expect that with Anthony Davidson advising them on that part, shame he couldn't have put a little forceful insight into the rest of it. Time trial mode can be fun, with no AI around to ruin it, but the curbs, again, will infuriate me. Multiplayer can be fun but 80% of the time you will be in a game where most of the people there think they're playing Mario Kart and spear into you at any opportunity they have. Qualifying in multiplayer is a more serene mode compared to Sprint/Endurance, as the other cars are always ghosts and your free to compete to set the fastest time. Reluctantly i still will be playing it until 2011 comes out, sporadically though, and hopefully they won't just release that to please the license again, and correct the wash of problems plaguing this rushed release. They should have either not made F1 2009 for the Wii, that was a waste of time and a awful game, not made F1 2010, and just spent more time on it and let the first release be 2011. It would have been better, more polished, and i would have not lost a massive amount of resect for Codemasters. Expand

  3. In short words, this game is a BETA. The damage system is worse than psx games, your car is practically a tank even with full damage enabled and you can only break the fornt wing. The IA is stupid, CPU controlled cars runs in the same way in non-timed laps or even with damages, the IA is inconstat between tracks, some are really hard and other really easy, and additionally his qualify are fakes, you can find more info about that in lot of websites. The penalty system is also stupid and ignores a lot of F1 rules and also there is no safety car. The car physics are unrealistic even with full simulation enabled, if your car is spining simply push the brake and it magically aims to the right direction again in milisecons, you can also full brake for long without skid, and if you full throttle there is some kind or awful auto-clutch. The pad controls are bad calibrated, with both xbox and ps3 controllers, the direction respond in abrupt way and the throttle only respond in the last half range. There is no telemetry to know how good are yours car adjusts so isn't possibe to fine tune your car. Online play works leaky or simply doesn't work. You want more? waste your money in this game and you'll find thousands of bugs making this game unplayable and a lot of unfinished stuff. Expand
