The narrative setting is nearly as potent as the gameplay.

Gears of War 3 is fantastic game, especially together with friends in multiplayer, and the campaign mode is a lot of fun. But as the finale of the trilogy it's a bit disappointing.

So many months, so many thousands of man hours of work, so many millions of dollars, such an extravagant marketing campaign, and this is what Epic has produced? The shooter equivalent of a roster update in a sports game?

Remarkably similar to Gears 2, but hardly a bad game. The campaign was excellent as always and the mutli-player is a real step up. It's only real flaw was its lack of innovation. Expand
  2. This is another reason why people should own a XBOX 360 for. You will easily falling into the game and spend endless hours just for shooting, shooting and shooting. More over, with the great features of multiplayer, one should expect more and more fun, obviously Expand
  3. As a long term Gears fan I must say the 3rd tittle is more than a little disappointing. The MP is better than in Gears 2 but the SP is pretty bad. The AI is idiotic and having your teammates constantly revive changes the game dynamic in such a way that it doesn't have any of the Gears magic anymore. Also, level design, story, and dialogue just seem off for some reason. This games SP just feel like the worst in the series. Overall, if you're looking for a solid MP only - Gears 3 is fine. But, if you want a comprehensive package, which is what is expected of the Gears series, look elsewhere. This game, sadly, is a big disappointment and way overrated by the major review sites. The metacritic users have it closer. Expand

WHY GEARS, WHY!!! The makers had three years to work on this game and what they did was take gow2 and made it worse. The new beast mode is fun for only two plays and the multiplayer isn't nearly as fun as it was in gow2. The makers decided to take out guardian (which was the most played playlist in gow2) and replace it with team deathmatch which is not nearly as fun. The maps are worse and the campaign loses your interest off the first mission, the only good part about this game is that they added a few more guns and horde has significantly improved. Expand
