NBA 2K13 is a love letter to basketball fans everywhere. 2K Sports continues to impress, resist the urge to rest on its laurels, and produce a fantastic product that innovates in unforeseen ways.
  2. Oct 14, 2012
NBA 2K13 manages to build on the already stratospheric levels reached last year, confirming it as one of the best, if not the very best, sports game around. Unmissable.
  3. Oct 14, 2012
It seems that 2K Sports didn't rest at all and made even more improvements upon the series and especially in the MyCareer Mode. NBA 2K13 is the only basketball title available right now and it conquers the digital basketball courts with no competitor under the basket.
  4. Oct 9, 2012
Another year another win. Visual Concept revitalized some aspects of gameplay, and realized another must buy. The Real NBA simulation.
  5. Oct 7, 2012
The NBA 2K series continues to lead the basketball games with this NBA 2K13. Thanks to improved controls, the support for Kinect and a better MyCareer mode, NBA 2K13 is the must-have for basket fans.
  6. Oct 2, 2012
Once again, the best basketball simulator, beating its only rival –itself. Better animations and some new additions to the gameplay move the game one step forward, even though it isn't any revolution for the series. For the Spanish-speaking players: for the first time NBA 2K offers Spanish commentators, so good news for you!
  7. Oct 2, 2012
A superb new entry on the NBA 2K saga with tons of options, perfect control and few but fun innovations.
  8. Oct 13, 2012
NBA 2K13 has improved gameplay and more variations thanks to the trick stick. The amazing commentary and the atmosphere in the stadiums adds even more realism to the sport.
  9. Oct 2, 2012
The best of the new aspects of NBA 2k13 are the comments in Spanish (by the expert Antonio Daimiel). These are perfect and very dynamic. The weak elements of the previous version have been improved too. In total, NBA 2K13 is the best basketball simulator ever.
  10. Oct 16, 2012
Despite all its crazy new features, what you know and love about the NBA2K series is all here and it plays better than ever. If you are a veteran fan, an NBA lover or just want a great sports game experience to play with friends or alone, look no further than 2K13. Sure the menus aren't great and there could be a more competent tutorial, but these are very minor points in other wise amazing experience. Make no mistake 2K are still very much king of the court.
  11. Oct 6, 2012
While the shift towards having more control on offense has left the defensive game a bit out of step, NBA 2K13 is still highly entertaining overall, offering enough changes to keep players interested in starting another career, season, player, or franchise.
  12. Sep 28, 2012
It's obviously the best hoops game out there, and it might even be the best sports game of all, period.

There's no need for another basketball game series if the NBA 2K franchise keeps releasing games like this. [Jan 2013, p.74]
  14. Oct 26, 2012
Point blank: NBA 2K13 is the most impressive sport-based video game I have ever seen. Endless customization options, gameplay modes, and a presentation style so realistic you will swear you are watching the NBA on TNT... this is as close as most of us will ever get to the NBA.
  15. Oct 12, 2012
Enhanced realism and a great new control setup make NBA 2K13 a fantastic recreation of pro hoops.
  16. Oct 12, 2012
NBA 2K13 shoots and stores - lots of interesting improvements in the gameplay make the new basketball from Visual Concepts into something almost perfect. New game mode and exciting multiplayer matches guarantee additional hundreds hours of gameplay and the improved physics engine works quite well. It's a pity, that there isn't much history of basketball in this game - previous installments were more generous in this area. All in all, competitors aren't needed in this genre - NBA 2K13 is a terrific game.
  17. Oct 10, 2012
There is no doubt that NBA 2K13 is one for the ages. Without any other true competitors to stand in its way, the sky is the limit. If you haven't already picked up a copy, you are sorely missing out. I can't ever truly say if a game is worth $60, but with this one, it might be worth even more.
  18. Oct 10, 2012
NBA 2K13 improves upon its already solid foundation of basketball gameplay and presentation, and turns it up a notch. Improvements and additions to MyCareer mode as well as the addition of MyTeam mode will provide for great depth this season.
  19. Oct 7, 2012
NBA 2K13 is once again the game any basketball lover should own. The gameplay is very refined, it's filled to the brim with authenticity and there are enough modes to keep you playing for a year. The presentation has also been raised to new heights, with the help of Jar-Z, and manages to suck you into the game even if basketball isn't quite your thing. NBA 2K13 is an example for every other sports game and every sports enthusiast should give this game a chance.

It's a fantastic looking game - but more importantly, it's a fantastic feeling game.
  21. Oct 4, 2012
In spite of a lack of competition, Visual Concepts hasn't eased off the brakes. Every year the developer continues to deliver. NBA 2K13 isn't just the best basketball game of the year, it's the best sports game of the year.
  22. Oct 2, 2012
It's ridiculous how Visual Concepts makes a monumental series and continues to improve upon it, even if it's in small and subtle ways. NBA 2K13 shows nothing but forward progress, and continues to be one of the best sports series on the planet.
  23. Oct 2, 2012
NBA 2K13-building on the successful and delightful NBA 2K12-remains a fantastic basketball simulator. With a robust My Player mode, already-great online multiplayer and gameplay that just won't quit, it's clear why 2K is the only name in the basketball video game market.
  24. 90
Other than improved controls, stylish presentation, and a better MyCareer mode, NBA 2K13 doesn't provide a significant leap forward. But then again, this series wasn't really lacking much in the first place.
  25. Oct 2, 2012
This year NBA 2K13 is one of the best sports simulations, and the greatest basketball game to date.
  26. Oct 2, 2012
Without contenders, NBA 2K13 holds on it's crown. This is the best basketball game so far.

NBA 2K13 is not only excellent basket ball game, it is one the best sports games of the year. [Nov 2012]
  28. Oct 11, 2012
NBA 2K13 scores big once again, although it fails to offer little in the way of sweeping changes or innovations. It's still the undisputed daddy of basketball games, but we'd have liked to have seen more ideas being brought to the hardwood.
  29. Oct 10, 2012
While there are still some issues on the bench and in the locker room, on court, where it counts, NBA 2K13 still dominates.
  30. Oct 3, 2012
Niggling complaints aside, NBA 2K13 puts in another solid performance with its unrivaled broadcast-style presentation, improved online experience, and the best single-player mode in sports. None of its new features revolutionize sports simulations, and cutting out the historical mode was a poor decision, but it's still a polished experience NBA fans should enjoy.
  31. Oct 30, 2012
NBA 2K13 really proves to be the king of sport franchises. The music, the atmosphere, the total package this basketball palooza breathes NBA and America. All there is left to say is that 2K13 basically is a slam dunk on all fronts.
  32. Oct 2, 2012
The game looks great and plays extremely intuitively, whether you stay with the buttons or go to the new right stick mechanics.

A decent if slightly light upgrade to this thoroughly enjoyable B-Ball sim. [Christmas 2012, p.94]
  34. Jan 7, 2013
This is still a great game, and sports fans will love this, but for those still clinging to NBA 2K11 or 2K12, you'll want to take the plunge if you really need that roster update or desperately want to play as the Dream Team.
  35. Mar 8, 2013
This is a welcome new standard for sports videogames as a whole and with any luck, will generate interest in getting the audio right. There are only so many places left to make it new and NBA 2K13 has crossed another off the list.
  36. Oct 25, 2012
NBA 2K13 sits at the intersection of basketball and hip-hop culture, and Jay-Z's production sensibilities marry the two beautifully.
  37. Oct 12, 2012
The content is there, the presentation is there, the depth is there and so is the pedigree. The controls and unabashed complexity, however, are also there. And the experience (and final score) suffers because of it.
  38. Oct 9, 2012
Physics complaints, menu screens and minor control issues aside, NBA 2K13 goes above and beyond the rim, packing in an enormous amount of content both on and off the court, providing yet another another slam dunk installment for 2K Sports.
  39. Oct 8, 2012
NBA 2K13 is phenomenal, if familiar. Go in with the right expectations, and you'll be enjoying it all season long.

There are a few Minor tweaks that make it a better game the control stick is one of them. In years past you had the same thing you just had to hold down the modifier button (LT) to use it. This year no need to hold down the (LT) button to use the contol stick.. To shoot however you do need to use the (LT) button as the modifier. I enjoy this cause also depending on how you flick the stick will depend on what type of Shooting move you do. A fade away, jumper, lean in, dunk, or under handed layup. It makes for a more realstic game play experiance. Also helping this out is the physics, If the defense switch and you have a bigger man on a point gaurd. You have a better shot of driving the lane. The Commentary is great the 3 man both does another great job and they added on to help the my player feel more relevant. If your into the shoe game the sneaker editor is totally insane and is a nice and welcome add on for me! What I dont like the menus, yes they are only menus but if you dont know what your doing they can be a pain to try and Nav. The fact i had to pre order the game from only certain stores to be able to get the All-star DLC. it should have already been in the game. All in All its up there with the best sports titles. 2K Sports tweaked just enough to get it just a step up from last yr. Which makes it a buy! Excuse me while I go and work on my control stick skills! Full Review »

NBA 2K. Where amazing happens. Even online this year. Yes, Ladies and Gentleman, the greatest sports game ever made has the best onlineNBA 2K. Where amazing happens. Even online this year. Yes, Ladies and Gentleman, the greatest sports game ever made has the best online netcode the series has ever had in this years game. Finally. Finding matches is a breeze, lag is virtually non existent, and the experience is grand. The remarkably fluid gameplay (grabbing a rebound and taking off with Lebron happens instantaneously and flows like water, no canned animations, so life-like and real), impeccable commentary, and insanely good soundtrack immerse you into the game in ways that cannot be explained. Jay-Z's involvement is felt the moment the game boots up when and incredibly video compiling performance footage (of one of the greatest and most iconic songs of all time 'Public Service Announcement) from Jay-Z's concert with in game 2K footage is so sick. I watch every single time I boot the game up. And I probably always will. I love that track. But the truly amazing thing in this year's game to me, is the inclusion of Signature Skills. Which I think is laying the foundation for another revolution by 2K in the sports video game genre. There are like 50 Sig Skills. Players can possess multiple and the skills have varying ways to effect gameplay. For instance, Kobe, DWade, Durant have a Sig Skill called The Closer. In the 4th quarter, they get a ratings boost across the board and you can literally feel there intensity level go up in the final minutes. Its incredible. Lebron's iconic Chase Down Blocker is one of his Sig Skills and you can see him speed up to reach a fast breaking opponent to get the block. It's uncanny. Others include, Hustle Man, which gives the entire team and energy boost which someone with the skill makes hustle plays. Skills that give percentage boosts or drops depending on situation that can effect gameplay in ways only the deepest players will respect and love equally. For anyone who is a die hard b-ball fan and gamer this is an incredibly deep gameplay mechanic that can only get better over the years once its expanded on. The guys over at 2K Sports are collective enclave of brilliant minds and have the utmost respect of this gamer. This game is the holy grail of Sports Gaming. It gets no better. This is my Game of the Year. Full Review »
