Raskulls is a brand new Action Platform on the xbox live arcade game where you race other players to the finish line to win prizes ... so is this game a must or bust ?
Story: During your adventure of raskulls you play as 3 different characters with one mission to secure the shiny stone before the evil pirate rats use it to fuel their crashed ship and how do you do this? by racing them through each course breaking coloured blocks with your wand
Playability: The races on Raskull's can be fun but also repetative for the first 5 levels you can go from exited to sheer bored of doing the same thing the main story mission are really easy so its no real challenge to complete the chapter and the challenge missions are extremly difficult and might cost you a window and controller also completing some missions can unlock a harder version of the level after each chapter you face some sort of boss wich once again is no real challenge the story will take you about 1-3 hours to complete
Presentation:
despite the repeated gameplay and the broken windows
Raskulls background and characters are really nicely polished and well designed it almost makes the game seem controller breaking worthy
Achievements :
the game shows the normal 200 gamerscore with most of the achievements evolving playing a local or xbox live multiplayer games this shouldnt be much of a challenge the only problem you will probably have is the King of bling achievement wich requires you to get every single medallion in the game Conclusion:
the game it self is a unique game and is great fun minus the repetitive Levels and boring boss fights but its those things that make the game and for 800 microsoft points ? better of buying ilomilo BUST.
Raskulls throws aspects of platformers, racing, and puzzle games into a blender and adds action into the mix, to make an excellent fast-paced XBLA title. The art style is quite memorable, and the gameplay gets addicting for some time. The story-mode is humorous and gives anyone a great time racing against the AI and solving puzzles. The game is best experienced if you're playing with a group of friends, and with online play, I'd say this is one of the best valued games for just 10$ USD. Just make sure you have friends that have this game if you want to play over the Internet, because there's no one out there that plays online in 2023.
Thanks to its bizarre atmosphere and addictive gameplay, Raskulls proves to be one of the finest examples of modern high quality arcade gaming. You cannot deny yourself the chance to try it out.
Despite some flaws, Rakulls is the best kind of downloadable title -- a humorous game with elements from well-designed classics, but integrated with a modern touch.
Even if there are new levels or characters added as DLC down the track, it's difficult to view Raskulls as anything but a short-term injection of fun and nothing more.
With a lack of game types and replay value, Raskulls is a once-through puzzle-platformer that satisfies upon first impressions but fails to hold the attention beyond the first hour of play.
I really liked the look and humor in Raskulls. I really did. Sadly, there's not a whole lot more to be had here. The single-player portion of the game is super short and I found very little to come back to after I completed the story, bonus levels or not.
Raskulls is a game that you wouldn't expect to be on the Xbox 360. You would almost think this game belongs on the Wii. However with that being said this game is a very different but fun game. Its something different and is something that I would never expect I'd be playing in the days of high def. This game is a must try for any Xbox 360 owner. Different variety of gameplay keeps you interested while playing. This game really reminds me alot of some sort of Mario type game and seems to even have the polish to feel like one.
A very interesting game full of fun and a a lot of action, one the pure arcade games to have as to have some moments of fun playing with a gameplay that seems to come from the golden ages of videogames. The puzzles helps creating diversity while playing it, and makes it even more interesting for the average player.
A must have in any videogame collection.
Reviewing Raskulls is a difficult endeavor. It's not necessarily a puzzle platformer and it's not necessarily a racing game, but it's bits and pieces of both. That being said, the experience it offers up is quite unique. Uniqueness is not necessarily always good, but in Raskulls' case, the execution is brilliant. I grew up playing hefty doses of Mario Kart and the regular Mario games, and I can appreciate the item boxes, the status effects, the frenzy - it's all executed very well within the game. The quest mode is fun, and offers a wide variety of sub-game modes within the overall framework of "run-and-zap" that the game becomes known for. Couple in some witty dialogue and you've got a winner. That being said, it's a short winner. The developers must have decided to hold out for some content packs which include more multiplayer game modes/maps in addition to an extension of the single player experience. In my experience, xbox live arcade games don't seem to hold nearly the multiplayer crowd that regular xbox games do. It's a shame, frankly, in this case, as I would love to keep coming back to the xbox live mode and challenging random players to races. This number will dwindle further if the developers release a DLC pack, as only the dedicated will stick around.
The ideal gamer for this game is someone who has played a lot of four player party/multiplayer games throughout their childhood and can appreciate the chaos, the frustration, the challenge **** that is, at times, punishingly difficult. If you like challenging your high scores, if you like pushing yourself to always go a second faster every lap you take, this game will be right up your alley. On the other hand, if you're looking for a complete package, something that has both depth and breadth, it's likely that a content pack will be released to round out the experience (after all, why isn't the looting game mode and the mummy curse game mode available in multiplayer?) At $10, it seems to about hit the mark. As much as I like this game, I'll seriously be weighing whether investing in DLC in the future will be worth it after most of the fanbase has moved on to either regular xbox games or other arcade games in this ADD Xbox Live Arcade culture.
Raskulls is a puzzle racing game. And it will make your heart PUMP!. Among the best drinking games out there. Gather up some friends and race. Newcomers will get sad due to your "partys" skill-level once you get good at it. But once everyone raised their skillcap its a game where everything can happen. The campaign are abit boring though. But it is REALLY worth it just for the sake of messing around in multiplayer. A Solid, easy and fast game. 7/10
