Mar 5, 201290The fast pace of the combat and fluidity of the tag mechanics truly bring Street Fighter X Tekken to the top of the fighting game heap...A fantastic fighting game that nails the basic fighting mechanics while daring to take a few risks with the formula as we know it; the pressure is on Namco Bandai to deliver something better with Tekken X Street Fighter.
-
Mar 5, 201285Street Fighter X Tekken is fun for a wide range of players while still offering the complexity serious fighting fans have come to expect.
-
Mar 6, 201288If you're a casual player looking for some throwaway fighting fun, this isn't for you-especially if you like playing online against strangers. On the other hand, moderate to hardcore players are going to find a lot to absorb in Street Fighter X Tekken, and players with patience will be rewarded for it.
-
Mar 5, 201290This ripped, boisterous crossover game arrives in a blaze of creativity, one of an intensity rarely seen in Japanese game output of late. A fierce, passionate marriage then - but one that just might last.
-
Mar 8, 201290Coupled with the great technical feats and good online play, the game is fun one for genre fans.
-
Mar 9, 201291I definitely feel like Street Fighter X Tekken is worth picking up, especially if you have any kind of interest in either side of the fence. Both rosters are great, and the online play minus the sound issues is pretty fantastic, and will automatically give this game a pretty solid online presence for months to come.
-
Mar 6, 201280That said, Street Fighter X Tekken is among the most enjoyable fighters I've played in a long time, especially in co-op and Scramble Mode with some friends over (I've already taken names with my Abel/King team). Online mode is no slouch either, though the replay value could have been extended with a longer Mission Mode and a better acquisition system for gems.
-
Mar 26, 201293The sheer scope of this game is staggering, which only makes the level of challenge and perfectly balanced combat that much more impressive. If you are a fan of either franchise or just want to play an awesome fighting game then don't even think about skipping Street Fighter X Tekken.
-
Mar 5, 201280Another fast, fun, and technical Capcom fighting experience. The online code seems problematic, but that's hardly enough to sink what's otherwise another top-tier Capcom fighter. It's actually kind of amazing to see a fighter where literally half the cast is basically new.
-
Mar 15, 201283Street Fighter X Tekken is a great game in some ways and does a surprisingly good job of blending two completely different styles of fighting games. However, it's got too many rough edges to warrant a full-price purchase right now, and is definitely best-suited as a rental until the kinks are worked out. If that happens, then I'd say it's a worthy addition to any fighting fan's library for about $40.
-
Mar 5, 201280A full, unique experience that's equal parts familiar and new, technical and mashy.
-
Mar 9, 201290SFXT successfully combines the best of the most popular 2D and 3D fighting games in the world, proves Capcom's most newcomer-friendly fighter, and boasts a combat system of bewildering depth. If any company was going to move the genre forward, it seems fitting that it's the one that invented it.
-
Mar 8, 201284Street Fighter X Tekken is very easy to play but also deep and very pro friendly. But in order to fully enjoy the clash of the two franchises you have to buy an arcade stick.
-
Mar 7, 201291The new game mechanics bring a new level of depth to fighting games. With the addition of two player tag battles and scramble mode, fighting game fans of all skill levels will be able to find ways to have fun with this new fighting game installment.
-
Mar 14, 201280It's got fan service where it counts, too - familiar character themes appear in the soundtrack, win quotes will often comment on specificities of other characters, and there are even some custom introductions for certain pairs of characters.
-
Mar 19, 201286Street Fighter x Tekken is a very unique blend of a 2D fighter and a 3D fighter and feels fresh in a variety of different ways.
-
Mar 29, 201291SFxT is the fighting game to have at the moment. Its deep gameplay and a huge variety of modes will keep fighting fans busy both online and off for a long, long time. If Capcom could have addressed some of the sound problems that exist online and supplement the inability to see the various endings and movies you experience, this could have been the perfect fighting game.
-
Apr 17, 201283A fine fighter, but the Tekken characters feel like Street Fighter characters. Multiplayer is also laggy. [Apr 2012]
-
Mar 5, 201285It's hard to tell whether or not Street Fighter X Tekken will blow up like Street Fighter IV did with the competitive community, but given how good it is, I hope it does. Despite the lack of story options, there's plenty of solid gameplay to be had here, and the online features are going to keep people playing for quite a while. Namco has its work cut out for them with Tekken X Street Fighter.
-
Mar 10, 201285The story may not live up to its potential and the audio may lag online, but Street Fighter X Tekken is a great game with some pretty cool new features and an awesome cast.
-
Mar 5, 201285With a perfect "porting" of Tekken characters and a lot of interesting content the game will be capable of exciting all of its fans and many many others.
-
Mar 20, 201287When it was all said and done, one can safely assume that fans of the Street Fighter series will be pleased with this new installment. While Tekken inspirations are definitely a bit scarce, Street Fighter X Tekken still retains the best elements of both franchises.
-
Mar 7, 201280Street Fighter X Tekken is a complex game with too many elements in its fighting system. The Gem System looks scary enough - it could ruin the entire experience in a blink of an eye. The funny gameplay and the good graphics, anyway, are just enough to turn this game into the perfect entry level for beginners and a deep fighting game for the arcade stick masters.
-
Mar 5, 201290A fantastically substantial fighting game. If Marvel vs Capcom 3 was too wacky for your tastes, this sits comfortably between it and Street Fighter IV on the lunacy spectrum. The tag mechanic is brilliantly robust, there are loads of new moves to master and the Tekken characters slot in more comfortably than a bum in a favourite armchair. Welcome to your new favourite fighting game.
-
Apr 2, 201280Successfully combines elements of both franchises in an imaginative, fun and impressive fighting game. [Issue#83, p.76]
-
Mar 5, 201290In the end, it's properly, wonderfully creative and brilliant – and proves that even the most disparate of series can be bedfellows if executed well.
-
Apr 2, 201281If you are looking for a fighting game where the emphasis is on balanced gameplay and challenging traditional online matches then Street Fighter x Tekken is a safe choice.
-
Mar 9, 201280Capcom mixes and matches all the fighting games ingredients, without achieving the finesse and subtlety of a Street Fighter IV. IN the end, Street Fighter X Tekken is an excellent compromise between the most demanding fighting games targeting pro-fighters, and the most pure fun oriented ones, targeting beginners. If you will, it's for fighting games, in some way, what World of Warcraft was for MMOs.
-
Mar 19, 201280If you get some good players together in a house to just play, that's where Cross Tekken (as I've heard it called more than a few times) does its best. If you're an online warrior, stick with what you've got and wait to see what Capcom does with its online issues.
-
Mar 19, 201260It's only at its peak when you're sitting next to another player, locally engaging in SFXT's brand of tag battles. Online, I found it to be a bit of a mess, and the game's attempts at meaningful character customization fall victim to layers and layers of slow-moving menus and a bundle of additional content that only serves to further confuse the issue.
-
Mar 8, 201290An immensely enjoyable game that is suited not only to the hardcore, but the casuals as well.
-
Mar 12, 201284Well beyond a simple mash-up, Street Fighter X Tekken impressed me with its ability to simultaneously cater to both the casual and hardcore. New players could have enough fun executing basic moves and playing around with gems while the elite could devour every inch of the Cross Gauge in their pursuit of mechanical perfection. While bridge linking casual to hardcore remains unstable the conduit responsible for channeling Tekken into Street Fighter's visage is surprisingly sound. From the perspective of a Tekken fan, that's all pretty impressive.
-
Mar 26, 201285Street Fighter x Tekken should be looked at for any fighting fan, as it's a blend of both universes layered on top of some truly interesting and unique mechanics.
-
May 10, 201279Not having played a fighter since the first iteration of Street Fighter IV probably did me favours in making this mash-up of cosmic proportions appear fresher than it will for others, but if you're a fan of either franchise there's a whole lot on offer bound to intrigue and satisfy.
-
Mar 9, 201287A gorgeous presentation, motivating gameplay and amazing depth – the gathering of these beat-em-up-heavyweights is a sure hit regardless of your experience.
-
Mar 12, 201260So long as it's consumed in an environment where all you're doing is playing offline, like at an arcade or in someone's living room, Street Fighter X Tekken's excellent engine is enough to carry the game. Delve any deeper, however, and that excellence serves only to highlight each tragic decision that frames it. Capcom has spent countless hours meticulously crafting the gaming equivalent of a Ferrari 458's V8 engine, only to shove it under the hood of a 1987 Chevy Caprice on cinderblocks.
-
Mar 9, 201288Street Fighter X Tekken proved to be a great fighting game under every aspect, introducing fresh gameplay elements to Capcom's formula and dissipating any doubt about it being a mere marketing move to attract fans from both franchises.
-
Mar 5, 201290A triumphant marriage between two huge fighting franchises that could have quite easily been a mess. Filled to the brim with new characters and features, you'll be hard-pushed to find a bigger, better, more vibrant and appealing fighting game out there. Hadoken, indeed.
-
Mar 5, 201295Street Fighter X Tekken has given me everything I've dreamed of and more from a fighting game.
-
Mar 30, 201280A healthy roster of characters and a decent selection of lively arenas is not to be scoffed at. And the important business of smacking each other about --which is what we're all here for after all-- is as fun and frantic as ever.
-
Mar 14, 201290The fighting physics and the technical aspect of this game have been done well. If I had a gripe it would be that the Tekken fighters are harder to use at first, but practice is key in this game. Go buy this, seriously.
-
Apr 9, 201282Street Fighter X Tekken manages what I had previously thought unthinkable: merging the personalities, rosters and history of two stalwart franchises into one enjoyable package.
-
Mar 9, 201287This clash of the fighting game titans offers a huge selection of heroes from both worlds and many welcome changes and additons to the superb fighting mechanics of (Super) Street Fighter 4. Although Tekken fans will have to adapt to the different system with 2D gameplay and six-button-controls, they will find most of the signature moves of their favourite brawlers. However, Capcom's new Gem system is disputable and might give players an advantage who are willing to spend extra money for Gem-DLCs. Compared to the huge selection of game modes in the recently released Soul Calibur 5, Capcom's new title feels a little rawboned.
-
Apr 11, 201260While there is a competent fighter to be had, the woeful way in which Capcom has blatantly stripped out significant chunks and promised features, or locked away vital content that already exists on the disc, all with the vile intent of having you pay for it again, makes this a hard game to recommend.
-
Mar 9, 201275With no separate Story Mode and an Arcade mode that can be run through in under an hour, it is clear that Capcom's latest title has one purpose: Versus mode. When the game works, it is a fun experience. The absurd load times and dysfunctional online play, however, ruin the game's solid momentum, turning Street Fighter X Tekken into more of a headache than a memorable experience.
