  • Summary: In Tetris Evolution, players enjoy not only traditional Tetris gameplay but numerous new modes including "Go Low" and "Eraser" for both single and multiplayer. The multiplayer mode not only allows for up to four players on a single console, but players can now compete with up to four players via the Xbox Live online entertainment service. Contributing to the online experience are the new intelligent matchmaking system, which pits players against others within their skill level, as well as the online ladder system, which enables players to track their overall skill level and accumulate Xbox Live achievement points to increase their Gamerscore. Tetris Evolution allows players to take advantage of Xbox 360's high-definition capabilities with intense graphics that make the Tetriminos appear to pop off the screen and more than a dozen high-definition background videos. The game also features customizable themes, skins, icons and soundtracks to create a personalized gaming experience. [THQ] Expand

  1. Definitely get this game if you love Tetris and want to embark in the world of online multiplayer battles. If you just plan to play it offline by yourself or with friends, then the look of it is the only reason to get the game, as it's a bit more polished than the older "Tetris Worlds" and it supports high definition, in addition to the fact that you can select different avatars and themes that weren't there in previous versions.
  2. While it ends up being a disappointing game due to its bloated backdrops, poor music, and control problems, Tetris Evolution does a fine job at providing players with an enjoyable, basic game of Tetris on the 360. I think it would have been better suited as an XBLA download.
  3. For what it’s worth, Tetris Evolution delivers all the juicy Tetris action but falls short in terms of the controls that make this a game that would have been more appropriate as an Xbox Live download.
  4. Honestly, Tetris Evolution serves as one of the sorriest excuses for a retail title on the 360.
  5. After playing for a while, you'll realize that Tetris Evolution may have been better suited as an Xbox Live Arcade game priced somewhere closer to $10. There is no real evolution to be seen; it's the same classic Tetris you've played for years, albeit with a handful of different game modes and a few more graphical options in an attempt to stir up the experience.
  6. Tetris Evolution should have been a $10 Xbox Live download.
  7. For Pete’s sake, the music even sounds tired –in the same way that you may imagine a weary 70 year-old musician at the end of the last show in the nth tour he’s had in the quarter might feel.

Tetris Evolution is a must have for every Tetris fan! There are so many little different achievements that you strive to unlock. Since the primary function of the game hasn't changed in years, THQ was able to make pretty cool lookin' backgrounds, but they can get very distracting in game. I tend to choose less fancy backgrounds to concentrate on the pieces! It was definitely worth every penny of the $30 I paid for! Collapse
