  • Summary: The book by Mario Puzo and classic film by Paramount Pictures serve as inspiration for The Godfather, as gamers join the Corleone family and earn respect through loyalty and fear as they rise through the ranks to become Don in a living 1945-1955 New York. Gamers create their own mob character in the game, putting themselves into the action while reliving classic moments from the fiction and experiencing original missions alongside memorable characters from the film. After a life of small-time jobs and petty thefts the player is accepted into the Corleone family, America's most famous criminal organization. It is up to the player to carry out orders, earn respect and make New York City their own. Featuring non-linear action-adventure gameplay, The Godfather offers gamers countless choices for solving the family’s problems with brutal violence, skillful diplomacy, or a cunning mixture of both. From mob hits and bank heists to drive-bys and extortion, step deep inside the world of The Godfather where intimidation and negotiation are your tickets to the top. Players use their powers of loyalty and fear to earn respect through interactions with characters in the world. Decisions made by the player in the game have lasting consequences, just as it was in the mob underworld featured in The Godfather fiction. James Caan, Robert Duvall, and the late Marlon Brando provided voice acting and likenesses for the game. [Electronic Arts] Expand

It boils down to the combat system though. A good story is nothing without good gameplay to back that story up, but thankfully The Godfather delivers on all fronts.
  2. I commend EA for not porting over the XBOX version and just adding a fresh coat of paint. They went ahead and added new Blackhand moves, new executions, upgraded graphics, new side missions, and a host of many new features on your way to becoming the Don of NY.
  3. The first time a player receives an achievement for bashing a person's face in a certain way they will be hooked.
  4. The Godfather on the Xbox 360 isn’t a bad title; it’s just too similar to the Xbox version. There are a few new features and tweaks in the game, but nothing that has you wanting to play the game all over again.

  1. In my view this game is underrated. The main problem is probably that people try to compare it to the godfather films. It is not going to be as good as them because it is in a different line of media and focuses more on the game play than anything else. I view it more of a 1950s Grand Theft Auto which lets face it is something that we do not see enough. I rate this as ten due to the rating being lower than it deserves. I advise that if you are the type of person who enjoys third person soot em ups you should buy this game. If you don't like third person shoot em ups then start liking them. Expand

This game was pretty fun and it was kindof cool how many executions you could do. i hated the fact that they didnt put al pachino in for michal, that was pretty stupid. Another thing i disliked was there was almost no blood in this game, if you shoot someone in the back of the head with a pistol theres should be a pretty large puddle of blood on the ground afterwards, but regardless this was a pretty fun game that i enjoyed alot. Oh and I dont know why people are saying saints row is better than this game. Im pretty sure saints row was a horrible game, like really horrible. Expand

New features are good, but I'm still waiting for better online play.

Wow... Where to start... First of the health system sucks. I upgraded it, but it didn't help. I'm used to health systems that work I guess. Cars handle horribly, and why would you make a game where the control stick to move the camera, was the same one to fight? While doing an extortion mission, I accidently killed the merchant trying to move my camera. I did like the voice acting and the fact that the story line paralleled the movies. Game play was just broken. Had potential but fell short. Expand
