  • Summary: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen thrusts players into a battle for supremacy across the globe as either AUTOBOTS or DECEPTICONS to drive, fly, fight and blast their way through intense, pressure-packed levels. Delivering more control, players can select from a diverse range of playable TRANSFORMERS - each with distinct personalities, abilities and weaponry - and jump straight into action as they instantly switch between robot, vehicle and weapon modes to fight for the preservation or annihilation of all mankind. For the first time in the TRANSFORMERS universe, players can also fight the epic war between the AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS online in explosive, multiplayer combat. Players can take on the role of their favorite AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS such as Optimus Prime, Starscream, Bumblebee and Ironhide, along with new characters making their first appearance in a game. With two distinct campaigns that allow players to save or destroy the human race, players can unlock and play missions in any order and with different characters for a whole new experience. Instantaneously convert from a colossal robot to a dynamic land or air vehicle such as a diesel truck, sports car, military chopper or fighter jet. New, ultra-fluid transformations can be performed in-motion anytime and anywhere, allowing players to strategically propel through and decimate hordes of enemies with incredible agility. 1. Like the movie it’s based on, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen isn’t trying to radically change the genre or introduce innovative new features. It’s giving you great-looking robots that go off and fight other great-looking robots as you watch the resulting explosions.
  2. It may not revolutionize video games in any way, and will come and go with little fuss, but that doesn’t mean that you should let this little gem pass you by.
  3. Definitely a major step in the right direction. But at the end of the day I can only recommend this game to Transformer fans. The solo play is interesting for a bit, but quickly gets repetitive.
  4. When you make Michael "Bayhem" look smart, something's gone very wrong. [Oct 2009, p.94]

  1. This is a rinse and repeat game, but I gotta say one that I really enjoyed. This is a vast improvement over the first in gameplay and look. It's not going to take you long to finish but playing thru unlocking the bonus features like the classic cartoons from the 80's and picture stills etc make it worth while. If you find this game on the cheap, snap it up. Expand

Here's the problem with this game...no one is playing MP! The last reviewer talked about SP, and I can't do a whole lot to defend it. Its ok. But he failed to mention anything about what makes this game a sleeper. We've wanted the ability to play with transforming robots online. And this iteration is a pretty damn good attempt. There are plenty of varied robots to choose from, each having a unique special ability. Graphically the robots and transformations are nice, the maps and other textures not so much. Maps are a little tight, but work out fine. The 8 player cap would be a complaint, but its rare that you have to deal with that issue. Game modes, TDM, pretty straight forward. DM, One Shall Stand, basically VIP from Halo, Capture the shards, and Capture the point. Of all of these I enjoy the Capture the point the most. Its a mode we all are familiar with, but the see saw battles are super fun. Hopefully more people will pick it up as DLC is supposed to be steady. Expand

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is by no means a great game, but that doesn't make it a bad one either. I like the idea of playing as an autobot or decepticon, but there was not even a story to begin with. Instead you just get a loading screen with some dialogue and some banter in missions. Also, the combat isn't stellar, but the transforming can be cool, if not finicky at times with the controls. I really wanted to like this game, but it ends falling up short as a whole. Expand

It's mediocre. About 6 hours worst case should have both campaigns complete for you, so there's not a whole lot packed into this for single player. The campaign missions get pretty repetitive as well - there's a reason for the name of the "Grind On" achievement. Hardcore fans of Transformers should give the game a rent, there's probably enough in there to justify the cost of a rental. But to outright buy the game for anything more than $19.99 would be criminal. It's not the worst movie tie-in game ever, but there's not a whole lot in here, it's not challenging, and will probably bore a lot of people. Expand
