Trine 2 is one of the best-looking XBLA games out there. The visuals really are a wonder to behold. Its gameplay is solid and fun by yourself or with friends; unfortunately, there are a handful of annoyances that hold Trine 2 back from true greatness.
  2. Trine 2 is a vivid and stunning game that spins the colour wheel on nature. It's completely absorbing as a single-player experience and bawdy puzzle fun with company. Just remember to turn on the unlimited mode and get stuck in.

  2. I was just so happy that there is a platformer that has grown-up, most independent developers seem to go for the "retro" look and I just don't appreciate it. This is because when I was growing up they weren’t retro they were pushing the media to its fullest, granted Trine or Trine 2 don't push my gaming rig or even my laptop to its fullest but they are insanely good looking. The gameplay on both of the Trine games is excellent just enough replayability to be worth the money, however some may find it a bit short. The story isn't excellent but it’s narrated and that's always a plus in my book. I truly hope this game do’s well, there is a lot more life left in this franchise and it gives me hope that the platform genre isn't dead. Expand

  3. Platform: PC, Xbox Live, Playstation Network Editor: Darryl Linington Developed by Frozenbyte, Trine 2 welcomes you to a world filled with imagination, interesting characters and a captivating storyline that has been voiced to perfection. A world where levitating boxes are the norm, massive pumpkins sprout from the earth, and magic plays a role in everyday life. Trine 2 follows the basic premise of its predecessor. Gamers will have the opportunity to control three highly imaginative characters – a Wizard, a Thief and a Knight – and take on an immersive side-scrolling adventure, filled with puzzle solving madness and beautifully designed artwork to set the mood. Trine 2 offers up some genuinely fantastic gameplay. Each of the three characters hold different abilities, which need to be upgraded in order to progress through each level. Amadeus the Wizard: Amadeus can levitate objects such as rocks, and move luminous mushrooms into a desired position. Amadeus is married to a lady by the name of Margaret. They have three children, all of whom know the Fireball spell. Pontius the Knight: Pontius can tackle the onslaught of enemies, and destroy any objects blocking your path. Armed with his sword, his shield and the powerful Storm Hammer, he's a headstrong champion. Zoya the Thief: Zoya has the ability to get to hard to reach places using a grappling hook, as well as dispose of enemies at a distance. Zoya is not so concerned about family or duty, but she is content to be a hero of the Trine, for she loves adventure. During the single-player gameplay, you have the ability to switch through each character at will. While playing co-op, you will only have the choice of one of the three characters and you will have to co-operate with your friends in order to progress. While Trine 2 dives deep into your imagination, it features some stunning artwork and beautifully designed backgrounds. The colours, textures and lighting are beautifully designed, and the animations have a distinct, fluent visual appeal to them. Trine 2 will feature online co-op, which will eliminate three individuals crowding one PC. While this is ok when it comes to console titles, PC players will find this feature highly beneficial. Conclusion: Trine 2 shows a great deal of imagination, detail and effort from the team at Frozenbyte, and is well worth taking a look at if you are interested in puzzle solving platform titles. I cannot wait to experience the full version once it has been launched. Expand
