  • Summary: [Xbox Live Arcade] Worms is a turn-based strategy game in which teams of heavily armed worms battle across bizarre, randomly generated landscapes for supremacy. Each team takes turns picking off opposing team members using crazy weapons, tools and other utilities along with whatever foul strategies they can devise. The simple and cute appearance belies the deep strategy of a game that is easy to play but difficult to master. A mix of strategy and arcade action that, although simple to understand, contains real depth and massive re-playability. Turn-based multiplayer action for up to four players locally or over Xbox Live. An assortment of game options: Landscape on which to do battle, Turn and round times, Starting weapon arsenal for each team, Three detailed tutorials to introduce the mechanics to first-time players, Twenty increasingly difficult single-player challenges, Three graphical themes for play, A random landscape generator to ensure that no two landscapes are ever the same, Twenty-two weapons and utilities to deploy against your enemies, Many customisable elements, including what worms and teams are named, what worms say, and which gravestone they have when they die, Twelve achievements, Weekly, monthly and overall leaderboards. 1. A genius concept thanks to exploding sheep, homing missiles, air strikes and Street Fighter special moves. [Issue 19, p.116]
  2. There are few better multiplayer games in existence, and no better ones on Xbox Live Arcade. If your gaming habits ever include playing with others, online or off, Worms is utterly essential.
  3. Worms may lack all of the bells and whistles that purists have come to expect, but the core game (especially when played online) still holds up – and that counts for a lot.

CLASSIC! This game is one of the best. More weaponswould have made it better, but this is well worth the few bucks spent.

The poorest quality Worms game ever made. Fewer weapons and settings than previous versions, buggy and some of the single player AI is too tough. (leading to overly defensive matches) I would have liked the buttons mapped differently as well, jump is assigned to the X button and fire weapon is A (the key that most programs use for jumping). The franchise should have been represented better than this. Expand

It is sad to see how far backwards this game has gone from the earlier versions (Armageddon, etc.). I purchased Worms from the Xbox Live Arcade hoping for a new, innovative title from Team 17. However, what I got was a disappointing re-run of a game, that simply didn't seem finished. One of the primary features made the previous worms games so great was the customization, with changeable worm voices, victory fanfares, and more than 3 map styles. Perhaps Team 17 is running low-budget, because this seems like a quick cash-grab compared to the previous titles. Call me nostalgic for "The good ole days", but there was so much more they could have done with this. Expand
