  1. To the point: pain has rarely been so pleasureable. Rumble on, spandex warriors. [Dec. 2006, p.74]
  2. The new control scheme makes SvR 2007 much less of a button-masher as much of the grappling is now mapped to the right analog stick, although sometimes a combo button is needed for certain grapple follow-ups.

New ways to play, sure, but SmackDown isn't a true champion -- the terribly long load times (it has to load each and every entrance) gave me a bad case of PSP fever.
  4. It's another great entry in the SmackDown! lineage that suffers only because what it fixes and improves isn't necessarily what is wrong with this aging game engine. Fans will undoubtedly enjoy it for what it is, but they'll also certainly be wondering if a true overhaul of the series is on the horizon.

It doesn't rise leaps and bounds above its PS2 predecessor, but it adds enough in the way of new controls to keep the gameplay fun.
  6. Be wary of the insanely long load times.

It's a passable wrestling game that never gives any impression of credibility. Going through the motions of making a game without any unique concept or vision is fine - if it hasn't been done many times before.

It's good. But, the graphics have numerous problems which shouldn't be there considering the kind of power the system is offering.

But there are still some serious gameplay issues lingering around from last time, and some new ones added. First it is entirely to easy to climb out of a steel cage, those matches should be at least 15-20 minute battles. Basically the first guy to nail his finisher wins. 2nd, why the hell did they make it so damn hard to recvoer from a move this year? Playing with my kid, I got a little tired of just getting owned after falling to the mat from a punch. Also I would have liked to have seen some NEW match modes, and why aren't the ECW guys in there? Its a 360 game, we should have complete rosters. It is nice to see some new legends available, and season mode is a lot better than last year. This is a must for WWE fans, but the casual fan might lose interest. Expand

In reality this franchise failed to evolve in any way. I used to see wrestling games as the ultimate beat 'em ups during the PlayStation era but during the last two generations I believe the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise has evolved just enough to take that away from wrestling games. Overall a game that needed to be enjoyed on release by wrestling fans, otherwise a sack of **** entry in a dead gaming franchise. Expand
