Crystal Dynamics have effortlessly done the impossible with Rise of the Tomb Raider, crafting a sequel that is superior to their reboot in every single way possible. It’s a bigger, more expansive experience that has a captivating narrative, engrossing gameplay loops and an absolutely stunning presentation. Rise of the Tomb Raider is one of the best action games ever crafted, and a generational leap forward as the series looks towards the horizon. Lara Croft is in good hands.

While 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot was great, fans of the series were pining for more tombs to explore and relics to collect. Crystal Dynamics addressed that and then some in Rise of the Tomb Raider, improving on its upgrade system, telling a fun story, more puzzles, and adding bears, tigers, cheetahs, and more packs of wolves to kill and skin. Just like we remember.

The last Lara Croft adventure comes with basic adjustments to its gameplay that make it an enjoyable and memorable experience. We loved the tombs, we loved the puzzles, we loved the exploration, we loved the world, we loved the combat. Even though not everything is completely perfect in Rise of The Tomb Raider, it’s a step in the right direction for the franchise.

The storytelling is not great in Rise of the Tomb Raider, but it does offer a lot more content, more tombs and varied fighting scenes in a very nice setting.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is exactly what the very title promises. Lara feels more grown-up and she finally returns to the key element of the whole series – tombs. In all respects, her new adventure is better than the previous episode, and it is obvious that Crystal Dynamics went in the right direction.

A crowd-pleasing game, which offers only glimpses of what could be if this team were only allowed to take some braver risks with Croft’s next expedition.

The sequel delivered all the good things from the reboot and then made it better. Rise of the Tomb Raider is a top notch game and a 2018 third installment hopefully will add more to Lara's adventures. Expand

Treyarch did a great job with COD BLACK OPS on both consoles especially PS4 and its a shame OTHER GAME DEVELOPERS cannot seem to do the same as this is a very annoying problem in NEXT GEN CONSOLES and from a distance these GRAPHICAL FLORES JUST FLICKER AND STROBE IN YOUR FACE and really does lower the score for me. On a BRIGHTER note, the game play is SOLID and the story is ENGAGING with EMOTION and the puzzles are some of the BEST Iv'e experienced in any game. Only 3 hours in and very impressed overall and apparently the game length is considerably longer than the last instalment which was generous in length as it was...........You''ll get your money's worth & many FUN FILLED hours with this game. The story isA very solid 3rd person action adventure game, they could have just called this Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade re-imagined. The story is so similar to that movie it's hard to imagine them using anything else as a base for the story. That is not a bad thing but it got to a point later on in the game where it just became rediculous how similar they were. As for the game itself, the gameplay is solid but the framerate and some game crippling bugs showed up quite a bit more than I was expecting with this game. I had multiple freezes and crashes throughout my playthrough and that's not something I can recommend to anyone right now. But honestly the worst thing this game did was releasing on the same day that Fallout 4 did. That alone will cost them sales and that was definitely a dumb move for a company that's trying to get on the same level as Bethesda. Still I liked this game. It's nothing I'll remember for years to come but, like the first Tomb Raider game that Crystal Dynamics did, it's very solid and definitely well worth your time. Expand

Why can't I just buy the core game for $20?

What if after the core game, I am good, and don't need/want any additional content. What is the worth of the DLCs and others that I will not play? As a PS4 consumer, I don't have the option to just have the core game and decide later if I would like additional content. Why make it a bundle, just to justify the $60 price tag.
