The course designer adds a huge amount of depth to the game as you will never run out of new courses to play.
  2. There’s no denying The Golf Club needs some sort of proper career or long-term competition to help retain players’ interest...But if there’s ever a sequel – and I hope there is – then perhaps HB Studios can add this one last missing piece of the puzzle to what has turned out to be an excellent golf simulation.

Game play trumps presentation here. Excellent swing mechanics make the actual act of playing golf in The Golf Club quite enjoyable and the social and online features are abundant and fun. These things outweigh the technical hiccups.

The Golf Club brings to the table some interesting features, like social interaction and the advanced course editor. Unluckily it fails in providing a good shot planning and swing mechanics, coupled with unpolished visuals and the lack of a more thought-out game structure.

Real golfers will love the challenge, and the course design feature is a trump card. However, it won't give the average user much of a buzz. [Issue#116, p.83]

As it stands it is expensive, and can sometimes feel like a tech demo fleshed out with menus.

The Golf Club is a little bit simple in terms of graphics and gameplay, but its procedural golf courses editor makes it interesting.

This game is more realistic, very simple, and definitely more geared toward golf fans. If you think you will pick up this game and be great at it from the start think again. Even despite some framerate issues, and lack of a sense of accomplishment with perks, equipment boosts, and other things this game is still pretty awesome. Once they iron out all the quirks in the game come update time this game will be great. Also, there are many courses to play from users and the game itself. I advise any golf fan or even TW fans to get this but warning it can be difficult at times. Expand

As close as i have felt to a real "feel" to the golf swing. Its tough no doubt, more is now based on swing and "feel". Im enjoying it, like playing in tours and tournaments watching my score, watching the other online player ghost balls shot when im playing, making it seem like I'm not alone and have scores to challenge. The game may never end as tours are set up using anyones user made course, or courses, and they get rated so you can see which are good and strive to get your courses a great rating. I do imagine an update having a longer season mode, and a head to head online mode. I would have gave it 8 but i see zeroes which are not fair to the game. Expand

First golf game that loads the entire course before you start so there is no loading time between holes. Graphics are not top end most likely due to the entire course being loaded at once. Realistic putting and endless possibilities with the course creator. Few bugs here and there but nothing that cannot be fixed with a patch or 2. Not a lot of customization but plenty for a $35 dollar game. I can see a great future for this game if it gets the support it needs. Expand

I have been patiently waiting for the first 'next gen' golf game to blow me away, unfortunately the golf club isn't it. The game hasn't obviously been play tested before release , it's buggy the sound is awful and don't get me started on the visuals .... jeez if this the best a developer can do then I am off to crack open my snes. I am sure somewhere here there is a golf game but the shoddy mechanics, sound and visuals have ruined it. Shame on you HB studios , if I could get my money back I would , roll on pga tour next year , that's how it's done . Expand

Every time I go to the submenus Connection is lost and I have to wait and hope it Connects itself or I have to go back to menu and Connect.
My saved round didnt start me where I left off. The leaderboardsystem is no good. The Graphics are horrid. The Interface/menu is no good. The putting I kinda enjoyed untill I tried fast greens. The ball has some kind of perpetuual motion and With only 0,00001mph speed the ball rolls 50 feet. Its just strange to watch. Also putting uphill is strange. You have to hit way hardr than the rest of the game indicates.

Good things is you get Message if friend starts a round and you can jump in. Onlinemode is good if they can buy a server or two.... Lots of good courses. Gameplay itself is also pretty good.

I have played most golf games ranging from EA to Mario and this is the least intuitive, least rewarding and most frustrating. Not saying that golf shouldn't be frustrating at times but this is non-stop! To add to this the graphics look more at home in an arcade than on a next gen console. Do not waste your money and hold out till a decent game studio has a crack at a game. Expand

Someone PLEASE start a petition to get our money back. PLEASE!

I think this would be acceptable if it were coming out on the n64. Seriously.
