Just insane. One of the best XCOM like i've played, i'll try more of 40K because of tgis game.

Amazing realization of wh40k in an xcom style. First 40k game where models look like like tabletop minitiatures in terms of quality. Great succsessor to 1998 Chaos gate. Best videogame realizaton of wh40k since Dawn of war 1,2. Feels that people who made it love wh40k and original Chaos gate.

The tactical part works great, and when you're not fighting, there's something to do on the ship as well. Warp drive repair, shield upgrades, barracks expansion. The bombarded planets look nice, the models could have been given a bit more space. But once you put the helmet on in the barracks, the epic feeling is back. [Issue#319]
Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters is a very good representative of its genre, a perfect choice for both fans of the universe and XCOM games. After many mediocre games, we finally have a WH40K title worth your money.
Turns out it’s possible to be a turn-based Warhammer 40k game and still retain user-friendliness and pace. Who knew.
Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters successfully separates itself from most other tactics games on the market while also capturing the gritty spirit of Games Workshop’s universe. Daemonhunters’ punishing difficulty spikes may turn some away, but hardcore strategy fans looking for an uncompromising challenge will likely embrace the chaos.
Plagued with technical issues partially resolved patch after patch, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters has also problems in terms of balancing and AI. The boss fights are well done, but it’s also a little monotonous as you find yourself playing the same dull couple of missions from the start to the very end of the game.
It is actually very solid well made and well polished. I think in all fairness it is 9 rather than 10, but I just want other people to appreciate it more. It has a lot of potential min-maxing X-com squad which when done efficiently makes steamrolling enemies extremely satisfying. I think it also allows for a lot of build versatility which is super cool and you are also pushed for an aggressive playstyle vs 50% overwatch popcorn.

Game is pretty fun, some janky UI choices and some of the animations are very junior. The vibrant tech blue of the HUD is a little overstimulating at times, and some what confusing. Was surprised at some of the stiffness and lack of facial animations in some cutscenes, especially since the voice acting is pretty good. I love the stylization of the game, I think this is the first one of the genre that really captured the goofy nature of the setting (original satirical 40k) And it's so refreshing especially with the art direction for the genre goin full tilt on the edge factor lately. Vibrant colors and big shapes really make me hope that they will make more games goin forward. Seriously made me take another look at old 40k modles

Sadly this is just a XCOM clone, and a poor one at that. Dark, murky colours make distinguishing characters a challenge. Undeveloped characters and story. No meaningful choices nor sense of jeopardy. By contrast, XCOM introduced characters that the player grew to care about, there was a sense of jeopardy, and game mechanics were introduced along with the story. In this game, each grey knight looks and sounds identical. I like Warhammer, but not when it's a poor copy of an existing game.

XCOM in Warhammer. While a mostly fun game with a interesting enough story it does get extremely frustrating. 60-70% of the mission is enemy movement and actions. It gets extremely frustrating when Warp gates are summoning reinforcements every couple turns and the enemy keeps using get extra reinforcements cards. The real annoyance you run into a group they all move, you get a token action point back and then they move again, summon 2 adds, adds move, next guy summons 2 adds, adds move. So you spent 2 minutes moving your 4 Space Marines but the enemy mobs on fast mode takes 4-5 minutes to move their people, summon zombies, channel abilities and pick one random guy to just wail on even though it puts them in a horrible position. And that's just 1 group if you manage to have another wander in on the fight then you might as well go make dinner and a drink while the enemy moves.
