  • Summary: You can engage in cinematic firefights through destructible environments in Black, the new first-person shooter from Criterion Studios. You can play as an operative in Eastern Europe with extensive access to the newest exotic weaponry that the world has to offer. As you blast your way through the urban environments featured in the game you can find opportunities to make "style kills," using your environment to take out your foes with explosions or falling debris. The bone-rattling density of Black's combat makes the nine levels feel like tours of duty with the grizzliest mercenary squads the world has ever seen.

It's an extremely focused game that offers one of the most visceral gaming experiences you'll find anywhere. But, it offers little variation outside of blowing things up and its short length and lack of multiplayer will irk some people.
  3. Black's first few levels are exciting, but the action movie formula wears thin fast, and the game's over not long after.
  4. The graphics and sound might be a great leap forward, but the rest of the game fails to meet any of the current criteria for a good first-person shooter.

Such an underrated game, people are complaining about things that never troubled them in other games such as: Lack of a built in multiplayer mode/split screen: HL2 has no built in multiplayer/split screen, did we complain? Diffuculty in aiming: Every Valve game had no aiming at all, neither did Doom, or Quake. Nobody complained. Anyway, amazing graphics, decent AI, interesting story, awesome amounts of destruction, and nice sound effects. Expand

It's not perfect, no, but Black has enough guns, explosions and military men dropping the F-Bomb to satisfy any casual gamer. The kinda short storyline and little-variety gameplay let it down a little though. Expand

The game really is not that great. 1 it has no multiplayer or Xbox Live, 2 storyline in the game kind of sucks. But over all if you are looking for a pure first person shooter, Black is one that you might consider. Expand

Mundane - bored me very quickly, by which time it was over anyway.
