  1. The gameplay has been honed to near-perfection, showing that a tactical approach doesn't necessarily lead to more complexity.

Just about every aspect of the production is top-notch, from the stunning graphics to the realistic, graphic dialogue. Although there might end up being better Xbox games this year, you won't find a better WWII shooter anywhere.
  3. Plenty of games have flourished around the slaughter, scale and destruction of war, but few have managed to realise a soldier's role and worth - disposable, vulnerable, pivotal - as well as this. [Apr 2005, p.100]

Definitely a niche title. This game had me so amped while the trailers were filtering down but I have come to find out that this game is nothing spectacular, good. But not great. After the first few stages I became kind of bored of gameplay, and I love realism. But this game (as all other GAMES) has been toned down a bit. Aiming is ridiculous. You can have a clear line of site on someone and still miss either because: A. You just do. or B. You hit part of the geography...it seems like the edges of sandbags extend a bit...invisibly. Overall I regret purchasing this game, it was far too expensive for something so short and "one trick pony". + Immersive levels + Great Sound + Good Game! - Invisible walls galore, the tactical aspect is a JOKE. - Somewhat corny dialouge and poor voice acting (sometimes). - Short. Limited Multiplayer Support. = Totally average game. Expand

Another ultra linear main stream title. And even though gearbox manages to get some strategy into this game it rather quickly becomes dull to do the same surppress and assult tactics throughout extremely linear yet beautiful environments. This game is completely bereft of replay value - there is one way through each map and roughly only one way to deal with the krauts. Furthermore the engine is probably one of the weakest to date - the guys from gearbox have somehow managed to cripple the unreal2 engine making it this game run with unacceptably low frame rates on a powerful pc without showing the player anything new apart from some good bloom effects and some soft lighting. And i can go on - the load times completely kills this game with the 2 min. loadtimes on ever map and the 1-1½ min. for the QUICK LOAD?! (1gb ddr4400 dual) But i get it - the game delivers main stream action in calustrophobically linear environments. Thats the kind of gameplay the mainstream gamer wants.. sadly. Expand
