  • Summary: Take control of any one of four highly specialized super-commandos in Brute Force, an action-packed sci-fi, squad-based shooter game. Whether the encounter requires stealth, tactics, sniping, or just brute force, the team is ready and able. The game combines the intensity of a shooter game with the cunning strategies of team-based tactical combat. Play solo through six worlds in the extensive single-player campaign, or play co-operatively with up to three friends via split-screen or System Link. A multitude of competitive death-match modes with up to eight players; and downloadable new content, including campaigns, mission, and maps; keep the game fresh for replayability. Expand

Probably one of the best looking games on the Xbox, no questions asked.
  2. The attention to detail - from the enemy AI and verbal exchanges to visual clues like dust, ash and fog (I even found physics on old tires rolling off of exploded debris) - is impeccable, and the team play aspects, especially in a one-player campaign, equal maximum immersion. [July 2003, p.78]
  3. Lots of weapons for lots of shooting for shooter fans who love to shoot.
  4. The four-player coop mode is particularly notable, considering so few titles incorporate so many players with such a high degree of complexity. However, there is a lack of polish to certain aspects which hold it back from being a legendary experience.
  5. A well-done game, filled with dangerous opponents and plenty of targets to shoot at, but it also doesn't fulfill its potential.
  6. The main issue is that the emphasis on action means that the tactical side often falls by the wayside; ultimately you’ll find yourself sticking to a power character such as Tex or Brutus and just wade in guns blaring to destroy everything.
  7. The elite unit's top secret missions are as one-dimensional and repetitive as their foes. And the four commandos...utter lines that would have sounded cheesy even on a '70s cop show. [18 July 2003, p.83]

This a classic in my eyes. When I was maybe 10-11 years old, I played this game with friends to death. Logged probably 500+ hours on this beast and would play it again in a heartbeat. I really need to buy an original Xbox again, regret selling it a lot. Expand

Great Shooter, good team play, Awsome graphics. Its CLOSE to Halo for 3rd person shooters.

The story isn't as involving as it should be, and the graphics are very good (instead of outstanding). Nevertheless, this is an innovative squad/shooter hybrid with surprisingly intuitive controls and some good replay value. The inclusion of bots would've made the multiplayer outstanding, but w/o them there is still a lot here to like. Now, I only hope that the future downloadable content adds more scenarios other than deathmatch. I give it a solid 8.5 (but will slide it to 9 for this scale, since it gets a bonus for innovation). I rented this game and im glad I did. Alltho this game is fun, it had no lasting apeal. After you beat a level there is no real reason to replay it. This game is a deffent rent. Gameplay is fun, you will beat it before it needs to be returned, and you will save $45. Expand

The biggest disappointment ever. My friend pre-ordered it. We gave it a chance and found ourselves returning the same day. Gliched in sortware, design, and game play. Unrewarding at all levels. Collapse
