  1. With a brand new trick system in place that allows you to perform over 1500 different tricks, as well as several large and expansive levels that will test your trick abilities, Dave Mirra sits on the top of the pile, holding the extreme sports title.

I'd rather be holding the Dual Shock 2 than the hamburger-like Xbox controller, but this version's lack of pop-up evens things out. [Dec 2001, p.109]
  3. The perfect version of this game, and the one that will be remembered as the best of the bunch.

A good trick structure and decent playability. [Jan 2002]
  5. Visually the game is now crisp like snow as far as the eye can see.
  6. The main control issue for the game is landing. Unlike the skateboarding games, which allow a little bit of error, there's no room for it in Dave Mirra.

Add an incredibly robust level editor, great multiplayer options, and the ability to rip your own tunes to Xbox’s hard drive, and you have a pretty damned cool game. [Jan 2002, p.32]

It's a solid, trick based BMX game. Good control, mixed with decent graphics, and a wide variety of truly huge and impressive courses should satisfy any player in search of an extreme sporting fix.
  9. The game is far from perfect, suffering from a shaky graphics engine and a trick system that requires some tweaking, but the game manages to be pretty damn fun despite all that.
  10. The trick system is easy but limited, a flaw that should not have happened. All in all this game is a good buy.
  11. Very deep for an Xtreme game. The level sizes, moves list, and challenges are extremely expansive.

I didn't really get into this game but what I did play was utter crap. I couldn't even control my character, which as the main part I didn't really get into this game but what I did play was utter crap. I couldn't even control my character, which as the main part game really ruins it. THPS is by far better on every level. Full Review »

Sure, the controls may be horrible (curse the stupid Xbox controller), but there's one thing that made me love this game: the Wipeout Sure, the controls may be horrible (curse the stupid Xbox controller), but there's one thing that made me love this game: the Wipeout mode in multiplayer. Oh my god!!!!! This is the most creative and funny multiplayer mode ever! At least rent it to play Wipeout. Doing tricks is very hard, though. Full Review »
