  1. It spans nearly every genre including arcade, FPS, action, platform; there is even some stealth-action ripped right from Metal Gear Solid 2 if you remember hiding in that box and sneaking through the ship, and Madagascar even gives a nod to classic arcade games like Frogger, Simon and the crane game.
  2. I'm sold on Madagascar, this game is a blast and shouldn't disappoint the younger audience.
  3. Undoubtedly a fun little platformer. The game boasts respectable gameplay, and an impressive audio-visual combination, as well as a comical plot from the folks at Dreamworks. There's plenty to do in the levels, and plenty to unlock for a second play through.

It's quite humorous and it's something the entire family should enjoy playing on their Xbox.
  5. For the younger kids that really find that they enjoy the movie's characters, this will be a fun game. Without the tie-in to the movie, though, there isn't anything particularly compelling to recommend it.
  6. An inspired example of how movie tie-ins should be made.
  7. Adults will breeze through the game in a few hours, but youngsters should be content replaying the adventure many times.
  8. It has its bad camera angles and glitches, but the good work put into the game makes it more than your average movie tie-in.
  9. The fact that the game can be enjoyed by adults (provided you don't mind playing through an extremely easy game) as well as kids epitomises just how strong Madagascar is, particularly as it's a movie licence.
  10. Breezy and varied, Madagascar is not a game for the ages, but it is consistently diverting.
  11. A pretty decent kids game based off of a movie franchise, which is almost unheard of in the current days of the console.
  12. But even with the mini-games and ability to replay the levels, I'm not 100% sure how much of an interest the game will hold. I wonder if after 2-3 days with it even the kids will get bored. For that, I say renting it is the best bet.
  13. Strongly recommend a rent for the kids, a buy for kids that loved the movie.
  14. The controls are good but the camera angle was always an issue after a cutscene. Waiting several seconds to correct the angle is not a welcomed featured.
  15. One of the more impressive children's movie to be made into a game because of how well the game plays, and not how deep nor how well it looks.
  16. 70
It doesn't force you through level after level of mindless item collection. Instead, it boasts a number of well-designed levels that feature a variety of play styles.
  17. What is somewhat surprising is that the gameplay is pretty solid for a game aimed squarely at kids, the voice actors do a good job of capturing the inflections of the film's characters, and the game features a nice boon of unlockable content to make up for the short quest.
  18. The gameplay is simple yet heavily varied, which in turn keeps the action fresh and fun. [Aug 2005, p.98]
  19. While it may be quite a simple adventure at that, it should definitely be checked out by any fan of the movie, as Madagascar will undoubtedly prove to be a humorous game to help you relax and pass the time.
  20. Surprisingly enjoyable stuff while it lasts, and just as amusing as the film. Short and easy, but only because it's primarily aimed at the kind of people who still having trouble fastening their shoes (and we're talking about the Velcro ones here). [Official UK Xbox Magazine]
  21. It's not exactly a memorable quest, but Madagascar is still a good time, especially to fans of the movie who can't get enough of its main characters.
  22. 65
The whole thing can be finished in just a couple of sittings. However, fans of the film, both young and old, would do well to give it a shot, as it's an entertaining platformer that complements the movie quite well.
  23. The multiplayer components mean the whole family can get involved, especially the mini-golf which is great.
  24. 60
After going in with low expectations I was actually pleasantly surprised. Still, it lacks originality, instead choosing to tack together a lot of undeveloped and tiresome gameplay mechanics.
  25. As if the gameplay wasn't stale enough already, every few minutes you are treated with long speeches from characters in the game.
  26. Step aside, gaming connoisseurs and parents, because it's most definitely a kids' game.
  27. Admirably, it doesn't just resort to predictable, cliched platformer gameplay - it resorts to that and a respectably varied selection of other gameplay interludes. [Sept 2005, p.80]
