Men of Valor Image
  • Summary: Men of Valor follows an American marine through the early stages of the conflict in Vietnam to the Tet Offensive. In historically accurate scenarios, you must play a variety of roles in which you'll man the door gun on a Huey helicopter, steer a riverboat along enemy-infested shores, battle your way through enemy tunnel complexes, and call down fire as a forward observer. Mission types include pilot rescues, recon patrols, POW rescue, and search-and-destroy ops. Expand

  1. A sublime creation as a whole. It is a solid FPS which pays homage to Vietnam with a pixel perfect depiction of the horrors of war. And that, in our eyes, entitles it to be crowned King of Nam.
  2. Enemies blend into the jungle so well that by the time you see them, they've probably started shooting at you. This took my normal "run into the middle of the area and fire like a madman" battle plan and changed it to "tip-toe through Vietnam, through the hostiles, very quietly" (so I wimped out, so what).
  3. An Oliver-Stone-directed theme-park ride. [Dec 2004, p.102]

I expected this title to rule. But the game simply doesn't seem finished. It has choppy ugly graphics; the ai is retarded; and the environments make you feel like you're in a mouse maze. It just doesn't feel like a forest when you are just moving down a tunnel with painted green walls. This game is a poor man's Medal of Honor, and that game definitely had room for improvement. I consider myself a war buff, but regret wasting my time with this rushed title. Expand
