  1. To my surprise after getting my hands on this game, I soon after decided to sign my life over to Rainbow Studios...This game has very few flaws and tons of great features which make this the best MX game I have played across all gaming platforms.
  2. The control is excellent, the physics are perfect, there are loads of original tracks and landscapes, and the fun factor is off the charts. This is a must-own game for any MX fan who owns an Xbox.

You'd really have a hard time finding a racing game that's more fun to just fool around in, cruise about the country side and wreck the living crap out of yourself.
  4. MX Unleashed, however, has a lot more tracks available for those who don’t want to make their own. The nod for gameplay goes to MX Unleashed as the controls are more responsive and the overall play is more fun.

I couldn't ask for much more with MX Unleashed. A few more challenges in freestyle would be nice, but this really is the total package for race games -- which is no surprise, coming from Rainbow.
  6. A good game. It has some considerable depth to it, but also has some shortcomings – and the biggest ones are the lack of custom soundtracks and the limited ability to configure the controls exactly to your needs.
  7. Play Magazine
Tearing a page from their old Motocross Madness tome, they've inserted a beefy mission-based free-roamer into the mix, allowing you to essentially go f'ing bananas between venues. [Mar 2004, p.69]
  8. Official Xbox Magazine
A well crafted and challenging motocross game with tons of options and minigames to explore that'll have you kicking up mud for hours on end. [May 2004, p.76]
  9. A motocross title that makes you think, sure. But MX Unleashed thrills the way book learnin' never could, mostly by letting you launch off jumps into the propellers of passing helicopters.
  10. Game Informer
More straight-up innovation is needed next time, but until then, we've got a good solid game on our hands. [Mar 2004, p.94]
  11. Electronic Gaming Monthly
This year's MX is certainly the most professional motocross game I've played - the physics are flawless and every race has nail-biter potential, even if you're dead last heading into the final lap. [Apr 2004, p.118]

Hits all the whoops with just the right speed. It has a solid career mode and a potent mix of open freestyle tracks and classic lap-based indoor/outdoor tracks.
  13. The most tightened, thrilling, and entertaining MX game to date.
  14. Another very good entry in a solid series of motocross games. It plays well, and it has great control and a lot of tracks and objectives.
  15. It's a long game, and that can go a long way in this industry. You'll be playing this one for weeks.
