  1. The amount of detail displayed by the player models will simply astound you. Players look exactly like themselves from head to toe.
  2. Incredible graphics drive NBA 2002 Inside Drive through the Xbox lane for a power slam.
  3. Looks and plays sort of how I envisioned a meld of "NBA Live" and "NBA2k2."
  4. Once you've played a while, and realize that a full franchise mode is missing, along with create-a-player and free agency trades, you'll realize that Drive didn't drive hard enough to compete with 2K2 or Live.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well Inside Drive played basketball and the authenticity of the coaching options and implementation was very impressive.
  6. A very challenging game with the computer constantly hitting clutch shots when the game is on the line.
  7. With most sports games, the only real distinguishing feature with any of them is the graphics engines and the ease of play, and NBA Inside Drive 2002 has that in spades.
  8. Holy first-party sports title, Batman! This game is actually good!
  9. Simple, with a tight design, this title is well worth playing.
  10. Whether you play 1-on-1, 2-on-2, or 1-on-3, the multiplayer support is where you will really have fun, and trash talking takes on a life of its own.

May not be as flashy graphically as "Live 2002," nor as polished technically as "NBA2k2," but it stands a solid middle ground between the two as an enjoyable game.
  12. More than starting out on the right foot, I think NBA Inside Drive runs away with rookie of the year and is among the top console basketball games available.
  13. The flaws of motion capture as well as lack of system link may keep a few hard core gamers away from the title but if you’re after a change from the "NBA Live" series from EA Sports or just after a decent basketball sim then this is well worth a look.

Despite a wide array of team-specific offensive plays, you can't call specific defensive formations and the new zone defense that was legalized in the NBA this year is nowhere to be found. [Apr 2002, p.79]
  15. Amazingly, some shots of the ball, like on a foul shot, you can even see the individual dimples in the ball. Unfortunately, though, the only "people" in the game that aren't very well done are the fans in the stands.
  16. Graphically Inside Drive is outstanding...Where the game fails is in the smooth transition of the ball up and down the court. The ball physics take a backseat to the look of the game.

While this hectic pace isn't realistic, it does make your palms sweat. [Apr 2002, p.143]
