  • Summary: Pure Pinball tests your pinball skills across more than 30 challenges and missions, which span four table layouts inspired by authentic American pinball designs. From the Old West to space, each table layout provides different challenges. You can view the tables in a variety of camera setups, including a complete overview, a close-up on the ball, a traditional scrolling style, or even a setup that lets you follow the ball using a "ball-cam." 1. The triggers control the flippers, and the ball physics are outstanding - every hit feels like it has real weight. [Nov 2004, p.77]
  2. The best iteration of a classic ball and flipper game out there. Die hard pinball fans will be smart and either play or buy the real deal, so I can't recommend Pure Pinball to any of these freaks.
  3. I love pinball but I have to admit that after an hour of play I want to do something else. Just about anything else. But that's the way I feel about real pinball.
  4. It's physics are absolutely true to life, and its tilts - a propers smiting for too much cheating - are fairly issued. [June 2004, p.88]

Great game for what it is. But I agree with one of the last reviewers, if Pure Pinball 2 can license a few well known tables (KISS!), it would rock!

Extremely fun pinball game! It does have only 4 tables but still great fun.

Being a big fan of pinball myself I was really looking forward to this game. And for those who like the realism and skill it takes to master a real table you wont be disappointed. However...call me spoiled, but I recall a game developed for the "Sega Genesis" that had numerous variations of tables, multiple themes, and an option to create your own table completely from scratch. This game for what you pay for is definately worth interest, but as fas as pushing the envelope and making either replicas of licenced tables(i.e. Aerosmith, Black Knight, Jurrasic Park, or Guns & Roses) or using the raw power of the Xbox to allow for extras like maybe a color change option for the ball (or different balls)[i.e. skull, baseball, soccer ball, basketball, sun, moon, etc...] theme variations, secret levels, double (or triple) level tables, interactive parts, or even a two player option are just not there. The game for what it is, is great. I sure hope they plan on doing a sequel, but lets hope they read this review and take notes on it first. Expand
