  1. Rogue Trooper may not be cutting edge, but as a simple, straightforward shooter, it's more than capable of delivering a quick action fix.
  2. 60
A decent-enough third-person shooter, then, rendered considerably more appealing if an admirer of the strip. If so, the score below can safely have a [+10] Fanboy Modifier (to hit) applied to it.
  3. The best thing you can say about Rogue Trooper is that (despite some clunky control decisions) is almost always good fun. Thanks to well-paced design you'll certainly never feel like downing the pad in abject frustration, or out of plain boredom: it's the gaming equivalent of popcorn sci-fi action movie fodder.
  4. A strong sense of style that stays close to the source material, Rogue Trooper isn't just one for the fans however; an intensive and sometimes intelligent shooter, Rogue Trooper is certainly one that could interest you if you're looking for a shooter that's a little bit different to the usual.
  5. For a budget title, things could certainly be a whole lot worse. It's worth a rental at the least, and if you can find some online play then you might just want to consider purchasing it. It's fun, challenging, captivating, diverse – and cheap.
  6. Rogue Trooper is at times a very exciting and enjoyable shooter, which makes it all the more disappointing that it's over so soon.
  7. In a climate of next-gen gaming, Rogue Trooper comes across as an anachronistic ode to the Xbox third person shooter. Not exactly rough around the edges but then not entirely polished either, it's a game best suited for either rabid fans of the comic upon which it is based or those who simply must experience every game out there that lets you play with big guns.
  8. 60
The brevity and ease of its single-player campaign and the lack of substance in its multiplayer combine to make for a relatively unsatisfying experience.
  9. Where Rogue Trooper rescues itself from mediocrity, however, is in the way it utilises Gunnar, Helm and Bagman. They all perk up with humorous quips and helpful advice, while the futuristic gadgetry is inventive.
  10. 50
Rogue Trooper tries to be a competant third-person action game with attitude, but it ultimately fails. [June 2006, p.74]
  11. This thirdperson actioner spikes the familiar with flavour, and a tired but reliable vocabulary of wall-hugs, circle-strafe, grenade lobs and headshots with an invigorating Nu-Earth twang. [June 2006, p.94]
  12. There is something oddly reassuring about a game that keeps its horizons narrow to get the job done well... A fun, smart and refreshingly uncomplicated experience. [June 2006, p.112]
  13. The graphics are functional when it comes to the large playing areas but exemplary when it comes to the rather bone-crunching despatching of the opposition.
  14. The co-op gameplay is a nice touch, but not enough to overcome the bland graphics and familiarity that permeates every second of gameplay. [June 2006, p.112]
  15. Rogue Trooper, I thank you for the important lesson you've taught me about judging a game by its cover art: That's now onlt accurate 99% of the time. [June 2006, p.111]
  16. Warts and all, Rogue Trooper's a perfectly decent rip, and as comic-book tie-ins go, it's better than most. [July 2006, p.82]
  17. A decent enough shooter, with good weapons and a decent cover system - but only fans of the comic will get the most from it. [June 2006, p.78]
  18. Elements such as stealth and stealth kills, blind firing, and the employment of cover in firefights add little to Trooper's mystique; they won't be used much as they slow down the pace to an almost unbearable crawl. [May 2006, p.53]
  19. 60
All told, unless you've got a special place in your heart for this white-eyed, blue-skinned, four-in-one sci-fi warrior, you'll come away with an experience you'll likely forget within a few days -- and a newfound appreciation for the better shooters.
  20. Feels more like basic training than hard-core warfare.
  21. In the end, Rogue Trooper is a technically solid game. It's intuitive, looks and plays great…but it's really not all that compelling.

They should nick the remote gun, and the holo-projector as well, and the stealth knife-kill, and the Aliens-esque one man robo-suits, and... What did they add? Oh yeah, a chainsaw on the gun. Well chainsaws, they're cool. I love Gears, I really do. Just don't tell me it's a Gears cover system. I hear that one more time and I will EXPLODE. Full Review »

License source material done to perfection. Smooth, intuitive controls with excellent options for action and tactics (the sniper options are License source material done to perfection. Smooth, intuitive controls with excellent options for action and tactics (the sniper options are particularly excellent and popping the guy's air tank is particularly satisfying!). The opponents do their best to take you down too, so you've got to be on your toes at all times. The ONLy thing that stops this being a solid '10', is the linear plotline and the relatively short game play. Its so good you'll get to the end and cry out for more... Full Review »

Wow, don't miss the opportunity to own this great sleeper hit! I had never heard of Rogue Trooper before as a comic or game up until Wow, don't miss the opportunity to own this great sleeper hit! I had never heard of Rogue Trooper before as a comic or game up until close to its release. I started tracking it and checking its website and watching gameplay videos of it. This game is a great action game, nice big levels with multiple paths to take as to either run and gun or sneak up on unsuspecting victims and perform great melee kills. It adds to the fact that my fav color is Blue. He is one tough trooper and its a total blast to play, and its a great deal. Hope they will make another one. Go get it now! Full Review »
