  • Summary: Tomb Raider: Legend revives the athletic, intelligent and entertaining adventurer who won the hearts and minds of gamers worldwide. Lara comes alive with intricately animated expressions, moves and abilities. An arsenal of modern equipment, such as a magnetic grappling device, binoculars, frag grenades, personal lighting device and communications equipment, allows gamers to experience tomb raiding as never before. Eidos and Crystal Dynamics shaped Lara's look and movements to be an inherent extension of her skills, motivation and personality. Lara's character model features natural structure, realistic textures, detailed facial features, reactive eyes and fluid motion, all of which make her part of a living environment. New character animations and controls allow her to move through stunning environments with grace and precision, while an understanding of the game's original appeal reinvigorates the fundamental explore-and-solve adventure experience. Fans of the original games and new comers to the series alike will all take to this new outing and know why Lara was and always will be gaming goddess she is.
  2. While the gameplay is serviceable, fun and current, the art design and visual production are head and shoulders above similar games in many respects.
  3. Don't let the shortness of the game dissuade you from the experience, it's worth just about every second of it.
  4. Legend is the best Tomb Raider game that has yet been made. Despite the game's few grating problems, that's quite an accolade. [May 2006, p.102]

A return to form for the ailing franchise. Eidos' decision to give the job to Silicon Knights has proven its worth. The experience garnered from the Soul Reaver series is an obvious influence to the new TR. With a much more fluid and responsive control system and a return to exploration, this is the first major step forward the series has taken. Its not perfect, the game leads the player by the hand, with too many hints making some sections more obvious than they should be and a relatively short lifespan. The vehicle sections aren't much good either. However, there are lots of secrets to find and a plethora of lovely touches, both graphically and in the level design. Overall, this is a very solid effort and well worth a look. Expand

Very fun game with a damn leave you hanging ending. Only gripe is that it was way too short. Other than that Tomb Raider was a fun 7.5 hours.

The past couple of Tomb Raider games were pretty awful. The good news is that the latest game starring Lara Croft is much better than "Angel of Darkness". This game is in it's own right pretty enjoyable and worth a playthrough. It does have some problems such as generic gunplay and short length. I would have to say Tomb Raider is a little overrated but it is still fun. I'm not one for puzzle solving exploration games but Legend managed to keep me entertained throughout but it did not blow me away. If your really into the Tomb Raider kind of game maybe it's worth your money but I couldn't find enough reasons to seriosly consider purchasing it. Expand
